Top Headlines Nomination papers available on Monday
MANSFIELD - Residents looking to get involved in town politics can take out nomination papers for four elective positions beginning next week.Nomination papers will be available starting Monday for seats on the board of selectmen, school committee and housing authority, as well as the position of town moderator. Those interested can pick up papers at the town clerk's office in town hall. Up for grabs will be a three-year seat on the board of selectmen currently held by George Dentino. Dentino said he hasn't decided if he will run for re-election, but will make a decision early in the new year. Another three-year seat on the town's school committee will be up for election. Steven Greenberg currently holds the seat. Residents can also seek a five-year term on the town's housing authority, as Chairman Douglas Murphy's term is set to expire. Town Moderator Robert Saquet has said he plans to seek re-election to the one-year post. Saquet, who has held the job for many years, was unopposed in last year's election. Those seeking election will have until March 24 to collect signatures from 50 registered voters. The signatures must be certified by the town's registrars before the candidate's name is placed on the ballot. MATT KAKLEY covers Mansfield for The Sun Chronicle.
