WRENTHAM - A former New England Patriot accused of having sex with a 15-year-old Walpole High School student was released from jail Tuesday after posting $7,500 bail.

Daniel Villa also was fitted with an electronic monitoring bracelet after the hearing in Wrentham District Court.

A former Walpole High School football coach and athletic director, Villa, 44, pleaded innocent Dec. 30 to three counts of statutory rape and three counts of enticing a minor.

His bail was reduced last week to $7,500 from the $100,000 set during his Dec. 30 arraignment.

The conditions of his release include wearing an electronic monitor and to have no contact with the alleged victim or her family. Villa also must have no contact with any child under 16 except his own children and to stay away from Walpole public schools.

Villa is accused of having sex with one of his former players.

He was Walpole High School's athletic director and football coach before resigning Dec. 23, when the allegations surfaced.

His wife, Joanne E. Villa, filed for divorce last week.
