Police say trio were trying to steal scrap appliances from home store
NORTH ATTLEBORO - Police say they foiled a break-in to a storage building outside the Lowe's home improvement store Thursday and arrested three suspects for stealing scrap appliances.
Patrolman Paul Lalancette was on routine patrol around 2 a.m. when he spotted a box truck backed up to a storage building at the Route 1 store and saw two men loading appliances into it, police said.
Lalancette and Patrolman Thomas McCafferty arrested the two men and a third who was hiding behind one of the 10 appliances loaded inside the truck, police said.
Arrested were Jamie M. Henriquez, 32, of East Boston; Alexander A. Juarez, 26, of Chelsea, and Pedro Coreas, 31, of East Boston.
Lawyers for the men said they had permission to take the scrap appliances.
The suspects pleaded innocent in Attleboro District Court to larceny and breaking and entering.
Henriquez was arrested less than a year ago on a charge of stealing scrap metal in North Attleboro and was placed on pretrial probation, North Attleboro police prosecutor Christopher Ciccio said.
Judge Richard Savignano set $500 cash bail for each defendant and continued their cases to Feb. 6 for a pretrial hearing.
