FOXBORO - The architect of the town's public safety building has been selected to design the Foxboro High School repair project.
State Treasurer Tim Cahill, chairman of the Massachusetts School Building Authority, and building authority Executive Director Katherine Craven have announced the selection of Kaestle Boos Associates of Foxboro for the design of the project.
The creation in 2006 of the agency's Designer Selection Panel was a major reform of the school building construction process, aimed at selecting the highest quality design services for school districts, Cahill and Craven said.
"The selection of the design team for the high school project is a significant step towards making the necessary repairs at the high school that will result in a vastly improved educational environment for the students of Foxboro," they said in a statement.
Of the 11 applicant firms, the three architectural firms recommended to Foxboro by the panel were Kaestle Boos, Flansburgh Associates and Design Partnership of Cambridge.
Qualifications of the architecture firms, with particular emphasis on previous experience and current qualifications for the project, past performance, and current project workload were considered in selecting the most qualified firms for the high school project.
School officials plan to seek an debt exclusion override for the town's share of the project cost.
