Top Headlines Ruth Marie (McLean) McCarthy, 80 ATTLEBORO - Ruth Marie (McLean) McCarthy, 80, of Attleboro, passed away Friday, Jan. 30, 2009 at the Madonna Manor Nursing Home, North Attleboro. She was the former wife of Russell J. McCarthy of Quincy. Born in Boston on Dec. 29, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Edward McLean and the late Margaret (Blute) McLean. Ms. McCarthy has resided in Attleboro for the past six years. Prior to that, she had raised her family in Norton before moving to Attleboro. She enjoyed line dancing, traveling and playing the game of Yahtzee. She was a homemaker and took care of the household for her beloved family, and was extremely devoted to them. Ms. McCarthy leaves five children: Linda A. Salisbury of Norton and her late husband Robert Salisbury, who passed away in 2000; Kenneth P. McCarthy and his wife Carol H. (Gray) McCarthy of North Attleboro; Susan M. Carreiro and her husband Richard C. Carreiro of Norton; James R. McCarthy of North Attleboro and Douglas E. McCarthy and his wife Shirley M. (Winnegge) McCarthy of Norton; a sister, Catherine E. Noble of Plymouth; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and extended family members and friends. She was the sister of the late Dorothy McIntosh, Margaret Sargent, Mary McLean, Daniel McLean and Edward McLean. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Monday, Feb. 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson House, 161 Commonwealth Ave. (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, three-quarters of a mile on left), Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson House, 161 Commonwealth Ave. (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, three-quarters of a mile on left), Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Macomber, a lifelong resident of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009 at home. Born in Mansfield on July 22, 1925, she was a loving daughter of the late Clarence L. and Valencia E. (Rushton) Macomber. Alice grew up in Mansfield, was educated in Mansfield public schools and was a graduate of Mansfield High School. She was a retired secretary, having worked at the L.G. Balfour Co. in Attleboro for 44 faithful years before retiring at age 62. An avid bowler, Alice enjoyed watching television shows, especially those pertaining to bowling events and game shows. She enjoyed walking and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Gold Dusters Club at L.G. Balfour and for many years looked forward to participating in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro with her friends. She was the dear sister of Frederick L. Macomber of North Carolina and the late Clarence E. Macomber, Albert R. Macomber and Ethel L. Harnden. Alice is also survived by her devoted six nieces, three nephews and many grandnieces and nephews and their families. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a graveside service to be held on Friday, Feb. 6 at 2 p.m. at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield. Visiting hours are omitted, and in lieu of flowers, Alice's family has requested that donations in her memory be made to Nine Lives of Norton, P.O. Box 548, Norton, MA 02766. (Ferrera) Savi, 88 RAYNHAM - Pasqualina C. (Ferrera) Savi, of Raynham and formerly of Dedham, passed away Jan. 30, 2009 in Brockton. She was 88. Born in Boston, Pasqualina was a daughter of the late Domenic and Filippa (Gangitano) Ferrera. She was a member of the Garment Union. She was the beloved wife of the late Alessandro Savi, as well as the devoted mother of John Savi and his wife Michaela of Wrentham, Josephine Johnson and her husband Lawrence of Raynham, Nancy DeRoche and her husband Frederick of Medfield, and the late Domenic Savi. She was a loving grandmother to Rebecca, Cara and Emily Savi, Kenneth Johnson, Amanda Millet, and Phillip, Jessica and Kelly DeRoche and sister of Santina Bonaffini of Marshfield, and the late Charles and James Ferrera and Sally Celeste. A funeral will be held from the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home 456 High St. Dedham on Tuesday at 8 a.m. A funeral Mass will follow at St. Mary Church in Dedham at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
