Obituaries were published for Elizabeth Mason, 80, of Attleboro; Herbert Snell, 96, of North Attleboro; and Joseph McCarron, 45, of Springfield, Pa.

Elizabeth Mason, 80

ATTLEBORO - Elizabeth M. (Howe) Mason, 80, of Attleboro passed away at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro on Jan. 31, 2009. She was the wife of the late Robert Snow Mason, whom she married on Aug. 8, 1952 and who passed away on April 8, 2003.

Born in Worcester on Dec. 23, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Walter N. Howe and the late Elizabeth Jane (Eaton) Howe.

She lived in Foxboro, followed by residing in Mansfield for 30 years. Later, she moved to Plainville, where she had spent 15 years prior to living in Canterbury Woods in Attleboro, where she spent the last four years. Educated in Newton, she graduated high school with the class of 1946. She graduated from Dean Junior College in Franklin, earning an associate degree for her to be able to become a dietitian.

She had held the position of file clerk at the Foxboro Company for 15 years prior to her retirement.

Ms. Mason enjoyed being an active part of the Order of the Eastern Star, as well as spending time at the Hockomock YMCA in Attleboro and being a member of the Hockomock Live Wires. At one point, she had been an active swimming instructor for 10 years.

She adored cats, and found great satisfaction in knitting hats to be later donated to hospitals.

Ms. Mason leaves four children, Linda M. Harding of North Attleboro, Carol A. Pray of Mansfield, Stuart H. Mason of Mansfield and Jeffrey W. Mason of North Attleboro; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild and extended family members and friends.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson House, 161 Commonwealth Ave. (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, 3/4 mile on left), Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service following visitation on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009 at 8 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home.

A private burial will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ms. Mason's name can be made payable to the North Attleborough Animal Shelter and mailed to: Town of North Attleborough, Attn: Animal Shelter, 43 South Washington St., North Attleboro, MA 02760.

A children's room will be available during the visitation and funeral service. Those in need of a local ride to visitation may simply call the funeral home at 508-695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation.

Herbert Snell, 96

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Herbert R. Snell, 96, of Old Post Road, North Attleboro passed away at the Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro on Jan. 31, 2009. He was the husband of Dorothy E. (Bouffard) Snell of North Attleboro, whom he married on Dec. 29, 1962 at St. Brendan Church in Riverside, R.I. He was also the former husband of the late Valore F. (Young) Snell.

Born in Cumberland, R.I. on June 12, 1912, he was a son of the late George H. Snell and Evelyn G. (Johnson) Snell.

He has resided in North Attleboro since 1963, and prior to that had lived in Plainville and Riverside.

Mr. Snell was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in North Attleboro.

While being educated in Plainville, he had graduated from Plainville High School.

He had held the position of stationary engineer at the Foxboro Company until his retirement in 1977.

While enjoying the art of square dancing, he became a part of the Side Splitters Square Dancing Club. He was also a past member of the Foxboro Camping Club. He and his wife both earning their pilot's license allowed him to become an avid pilot, and they absolutely loved to fly together. Driving and traveling cross-country were also some of his favorite pastimes.

Mr. Snell leaves six children: Beverly Anne West of North Attleboro, Fred A. Snell of Chandler, Ariz., Linda Lee Kee of Somerville, Ore.; Serena E. Hastings of North Attleboro, Valerie J. Swift of Attleboro and Christopher R. Swift of North Attleboro; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and extended family members and friends.

He was the father of the late Barbara J. Mosher and the brother of the late Kenneth Snell and Henry Snell.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Commonwealth Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson House, 161 Commonwealth Ave. (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, 3/4 mile on left), Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009 at 9 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Park Street, North Attleboro, with the Rev. David A. Costa, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in Diamond Hill Cemetery, Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mr. Snell's name can be made to the Madonna Manor Activities Fund, 85 North Washington St., North Attleboro, MA 02760.

Joseph McCarron, 45

SPRINGFIELD, PA. - Joseph Edward "Joey" McCarron, 45, passed away peacefully in Springfield, Pa. on Jan. 30, 2009 after a lengthy illness.

Joseph is the beloved son of Edward and Judith McCarron of Rehoboth.

He was born and educated in Norton before moving to Pennsylvania.

He was an avid reader, enjoyed working with stained glass, vacationing in Vermont, cooking and was a very gifted piano player.

Joey is survived by his sister Carolann McCarron, his nephew Zachary Morin and his niece Olivia Morin, all of Raynham. He also leaves many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be dearly missed.

A memorial service will be held at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home at a time to be announced. For additional information, visit www.nortonmemorial.com. Interment will be private at the family's request.
