Esteem program for youth at Fiske

WRENTHAM - A program to boost preteen esteem is scheduled for sixth- and seventh-grade students Fridays, Feb. 27 to April 17 from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. at Fiske Public Library off Randall.

Meet new friends, share ideas and feelings, participate in activities, and learn about issues important to you: peer pressure, body image, self-esteem, becoming a teenager, going to middle school, and more.

Group limited to 10 girls. Register at front desk. Program is free thanks to the support of the Friends of Fiske. For more information, call Christine Renz-Jones at 508-446-0470.

Trust hosting comedy night
WRENTHAM - The Wrentham Elementary Schools Trust Inc. (WEST) is hosting a Comedy Night and Dinner at Restaurant 3 in Franklin Saturday, March 7 at 7 p.m.

Tickets in advance, by Friday, Feb. 27, are $60 per person, and will include appetizers, a buffet dinner, coffee and tea and comedian Frank Santorelli from the Sopranos. There will also be a cash bar.

Proceeds benefit WEST, a tax-exempt nonprofit organization which provides monetary grants to Wrentham elementary school teachers for innovative curriculum enrichment programs.

Autism treatment topic of workshop


WRENTHAM - Helping HANDS (Helping Heal Autism & Neurobiological DisorderS) invites interested parents and professionals to a free workshop from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 2 at the Wrentham Senior Center, 400 Taunton St.

Participants will learn about an integrative approach to treating autism and other neurobiological conditions.

Drs. Rochelle Bien and Michael Goldstein, both of Bristol Square Chiropractic in Walpole, will speak about combining nutrition and neurological integrative systemic therapy to help children with autism improve their overall health and expand their potential. Several parents will also be on hand to talk about their children's experiences with the program.

WRENTHAM - The Holly Club of Wrentham invites the public to learn about The Random Smiles Project at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 3 at the Fiske Public Library.

Admission is free and refreshments will be served. The Random Smiles Project is a community non-profit corporation whose mission is putting smiles on faces throughout the community. It has three divisions, each set up to assist, recognize, and promote community involvement.

Make Mardi Gras mask in Wrentham

WRENTHAM - The following programs are planned by the senior center, 400 Taunton St. Call 508-384-5425 to sign up.

Make a Mardi Gras mask or hat at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4.

A representative from Miracle Ear will be at the center at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 5 to give free hearing screenings and provide hearing aid cleaning.

Sign up for tax help at Wrentham center

WRENTHAM - The following programs are planned by the senior center, 400 Taunton St. Call 508-384-5425 to sign up.

Appointments are being made for free tax preparation. Call the center and pick up an intake sheet.

Grocery shopping with the senior van is offered two times a week, every Thursday and Friday, at 10:15 a.m.

Trips include: Cape Cod Irish Village, March 16; Mackinac Island, June 1-8, $1,950 per person/double occupancy.

Holly Club Fashion Show is April 1


WRENTHAM - The Holly Club of Wrentham will host its 28th annual Fashion Show at Lake View Pavilion in Foxboro on April 1.

Susan Wornick from WCVB-TV in Boston will be the commentator for the fundraiser, while fashions will be provided by the Wrentham Village Premium Outlets. A cash bar for cocktails will be open at 6 p.m., with a chicken francaise dinner served at 7. Raffle tickets will be available to win donated gift baskets, gift cards and other surprises.

Cost is $40 per person. Tables of 10 may be reserved. Reservations may be made at Bambi's Vive Le Chic in Wrentham Center, or contact Donna DeCarlo at 508-384-8049 or The Holly Club, PO Box 1091, Wrentham, MA 02093. Checks should be made payable to The Holly Club. Reservations must be received by March 18.

KP Class of 1961 plans 50th reunion

WRENTHAM - The King Philip Regional High School of 1961 is working on plans for its 50th reunion.

Tentative plans are for a three day weekend reunion from April 29-May 1, 2011.

Efforts are under way to locate classmates and formulate additional plans. Wrentham High Class of '51 plans reunion

WRENTHAM - Wrentham High School's Class of 1951 is in the planning stage for its 60th reunion.

The class that attended the former high school that was located at Wrentham Center parking lot numbered just 24 students, with just 15 remaining.

Also, graduates have lost track of two classmates, and a few who didn't graduate for various reasons, but who they would like to reach.

Addresses and/or phone numbers are sought for graduates Harvey Bowers and Berney Blodget. Also being sought are Armand Lustenberger, Lloyd Newcomb, George Bernier, Alice Morse and Charlie Zagame.
