ATTLEBORO - It was National Public Safety Telecommunications Week last week and the city honored its emergency 9-1-1 dispatchers at a city hall ceremony last week.
The police chief, mayor and city council praised the city's eight dispatchers who are a key link between persons in distress and the emergency assistance they need.
"The public safety dispatchers are truly the unsung heroes of the department," said Police Chief Richard Pierce. "I think they do an outstanding job."
Council public safety Chairman George Ross said his constituents have nothing but praise for the 9-1-1 operators.
"I always get good feedback from the citizens for your professionalism and your dedication," he told two members of the eight-member team.
Senior dispatcher Sharon Spellman was accompanied to the ceremony by colleague James Fitzgerald.
Other dispatchers are Roland Rogers, Eric Mayer, David Anastasi, Edward Gingrass II, Lindsay Mitchell and Eric Ventola.
