You can get a four-course dinner for two for 26 bucks and a two-course lunch for two for 15 bucks, both with the coupons on the flyer that was in The Sun Chronicle. (www.bugaboocreek.com and 508.336.2200) The current specials menu at The Breakfast Place on Pleasant Street in Attleboro features breakfast sandwiches - all named after the owner and his staff. To name just a few, there's the Casey (roastbeef hash, fried egg and horseradish sauce on grilled sourdough), the Elisa (scrambled egg, sausage, bacon and cheddar on a maple buttered biscuit), the It's Miller Time (srambled egg, bacon, sauteed spinach and feta on rye) and the Brittany (grilled vegetables, egg whites, swiss cheese and roasted red pepper mayo on a spinach bagel). They have introduced new wine flights, too. The Notester would be remiss not to remind you that Tastings has held the position as New England's highest rated wine list by Open Table users for six months running and also received the Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence in its first year of operation. Trust The Notester, they know their wines. Emerald Square mall in North Attleboro is hosting a Simon Kidgits Club Super Duper Mini Chefs Event Saturday, 11 to 1, where kids learn food basics and healthy eating. North to Boston Great Bay at Hotel Commonwealth has closed its doors. They cited the "changing economic climate." They are examing future uses for the space, they say. And they are not alone. After 31 years, Icarus in the South End will close on July 1 and Aujourd'hui at the Four Seasons Boston will be closing at the end of June. Winemaker Anthony Bell will be at UpSatirs on the Square Wednesday for a wine dinner featuring the Bell Wine Cellars limited production estate wines. It starts at 6:30 and costs 65 bucks. The next day, Thursday, June 11, there's a wine dinner that showcases wines that, well, won't break the bank. It starts at 6:30 and is 45 bucks. (617.864.1933) Slow Food invites you to the Island Merchant in Hyannis for a leisurely evening of food and wine on Wednesday, June 10. The four-course menu highlights early-season produce in island-inflected dishes like Barnstable SeaFarms littleneck and shrimp ceviche, and house-smoked pulled pork and housemade potato parmesan gnocchi with caramelized onions, local goat cheese and wilted Swiss chard. It starts at 7 and costs 40 bucks. Wine pairings are available for an additional 3 bucks a course. Local shellfisherman Les Hammilla of Barnstable SeaFarms will make an appearance to talk about his Cape-based littleneck and oyster operation. (508.771.1337) They're having a Rites of Spring Dinner Monday, June 8, at Lumiere. The four-course menu includes soft-shell crabs accompanied by Verrill Farm asparagus, Vidalia onions, local greens and sauce gribiche;and roasted Vermont lamb comes with a spring vegetable and morel ragoƻt, potato puree and mustard jus. Dinner is 60 bucks, and add 25 bucks for wine pairings. (617.244.9199) A culinary charity event which benefits the American Liver Foundation, called Flavors of Boston 2009, will be held Tuesday at Artists for Humanity on West Second Street in South Boston. The event involves area chefs preparing five-course meals for guests. Tickets are 300 bucks. There's a recption at 6, dinner at 7. (www.liverfoundation.org/flavors) In Little Rhody There's a Keep the Boat Afloat fundraiser Tuesday, June 30, for the Blackstone Valley Explorer, a 49-passenger riverboat. The event is 6 to 10 at The Blackstone, Hope Artiste Village. Tickets are 20 bucks and include food, entertainment, a vendor market fair and a silent auction. Tomorrow they're having a Napa vs. Sonoma four-course wine dinner at 6:30 for 55 bucks. On Wednesday the R.I. Civic Chorale & Orchestra will be there for Wine Down Wednesday, with hors d'oeuvres and wine sampolings. That 25 bucks. (www.flemingssteakhouse.com and 401.533.9000) Competitors in the Newport Yachting Center's 28th Annual Schweppes Great Chowder Cook-Off Saturday, 11 to 6:00, include Plouffe's Catering of Cumberland, going for best clam cake. There will be a variety of activities including live entertainment, a marketplace and lots of kid stuff. The gates open at 11 and it goes to 6. Tickets are 20 bucks. Look for wines from around the world, tastings from local restaurants, seminars, cooking demos and entertainment, all in the Twin River Event Center. You need a ticket. (www.twinriver.com and 877.827.4837) The outside patio and bar at Ribs & Company on Atwood Avenue in Johnston is open. And they have music there Friday and Saturday. (401.944.5432) Look for things like Lemon Cream Wishes and Blueberry Dreams Waffle, Paradise Island Stuffed French Toast and a Cordon Blue Omelet on the new menu at T's Restaurants on Park Avenue in Cranston (401.946.5900) and on Post Road in East Greenwich (401.398.7877). (tsrestaurantri.com) Every Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday you can get a lobster boil and sunset sail on the schooner Aurora at Regatta Place on Goat Island in Newport. The lobster comes with mussels, steamers and corn on the cob. It's 37 bucks and lobster. You dine on the harbor patio and then set off for the sail. (401.849.6683.x34) Sunday through Thursday at Citron Wine Bar & Bistro on Memorial Boulevard in Providence you can get fixed-price meals for lunch and dinner. Lunch is two courses and 10 bucks. Look for roasted corn bisque with shrimp or goat cheese. (citronri.com and 401.621.9463) Dinner for two and a bottle of wine is 30 bucks Tuesdays and Thursdays at Gianfranco's on George Waterman Road in Johnston. In between, on Wednesdays, it's mix-and-match Italian Pasta Night for 16 bucks. (401.349.4838) Dinner for two on Mondays with a bottle of wine goes for 30 bucks at Bravo on Empire Street in Providence. Want another treat? Jumbo shrimp and oyesters are a buck a piece in the lounge 4 to 7 on Fridays. (www.castlehillinn.com and 401.849.3800), Down the Cape Tomorrow Chillingsworth in Brewster hosts a vintner's dinner featuring the wines of Napa valley producer and part time Cape resident Joseph Carr. The four-course dinner menu will likely include mac and cheese with summer truffles, and seared tuna and crab salad. Also on hand will be Barry Clifford of the Whydah pirate ship with some samples of the artifacts retrieved from the ocean floor. Tickets are 100 bucks. (508.896.3640) Going West Awards Corner Sean O'Hara of Providence, executive chef at Sodexo USA in Franklin, has earned the certified executive chef designation from the American Culinary Federation. Changing Tables Chef and restaurateur Marissa Iocco, formerly of Galleria Italiana, La Bettola, South End Galleria, Bricco, Mare, Umbria and Trattoria Il Panino, has moved to Needham's Tuscan-influenced Spiga as executive chef.
