TAUNTON - Two of the premier softball teams in the Commonwealth met and for only the second time this season, the Dighton-Rehoboth High Falcons absorbed a loss.
Coyle-Cassidy's Kate Bolduc stymied the Falcon batters throughout the non-league game, pitching a five-hitter as the Warriors took home a 4-0 victory. D-R batters struck out three times, but left eight runners stranded on base.
The Falcons left the bases loaded in the sixth, D-R's best opportunity to score on a Coyle team that shut them out both times this year.
Jen Lundstrom took the loss, striking out five and surrendering seven hits. Lindsey Courturier was 2-for-3 at the plate for the Falcons, who fell to 16-2.
King Philip 7, Sharon 2
SHARON - Meghan Carnase scattered four hits and blanked the Eagles through the first four innings of the Hockomock League game. Carnase struck out six.
In improving to 19-0 on the season, third baseman Anna Kelley smacked four hits, senior Cara Daly launched three hits and freshman Alyssa Siegmann belted three hits.
Somerset 7, Bishop Feehan 6
ATTLEBORO - The Shamrocks surrendered seven runs to the Blue Raiders in the second inning on four hits and three errors in losing the EAC game.
Kayla Holland paced the Shamrock offense with three hits and two RBI, while Tiffany Agostini (two RBI) and Colleen Bilafer each had two hits.
Old Rochester 14, Seekonk 4
SEEKONK - The Bulldogs scored four runs in the second inning (on two hits and two walks) and added four more runs in the sixth inning to beat Seekonk in the South Coast Conference game. Alicia Arata had two of the Warriors' four hits. Seekonk scored both runs in the fifth inning.
Canton 4, Foxboro 0
CANTON - Lynnea Gleason held Canton to just four hits, but the Bulldogs found a way to score while the Warriors couldn't, taking the Hockomock League contest.
Hopkinton 16, Norton 4
NORTON - The Hillers took advantage of a series of Norton miscues to score five first-inning runs and eventually win the Tri-Valley League game. Norton went scoreless until the fifth inning when two Hopkinton errors and an RBI-single from Erica Pundt produced a run.
Nicole Cuneo had two hits and two RBI for the Lancers (7-12).
