The last time that the Plymouth North High baseball team lost a game in the MIAA Division 2-South Tournament was 10 games and two years ago - to Glen Conlon's Foxboro High Warriors, that in the quarterfinal round of the 2007 sweepstakes.

"It's no coincidence," related Plymouth North boss Dwayne Follette of his 20th-seeded, defending state champion Eagles being paired against the 18th-seeded Warriors in tonight's title game. "I'm not surprised ... seeds mean nothing."

Foxboro, with just 11 regular-season wins, has beaten 15th-seeded Coyle-Cassidy, No. 2 seed Dighton-Rehoboth, No. 7 seed Duxbury and No. 11 seed Middleboro en route to the title tilt, allowing just two runs over 28 innings.

"They're a factory over there," said Conlon of Plymouth North's postseason success, claiming wins over No. 13 Scituate, No. 4 King Philip, No. 12 Greater New Bedford and No. 8 Bishop Feehan ...

Former Bishop Feehan High soccer teammates and standouts Jen Leaverton and Jenna Roncarati, now Big East Conference rivals at St. John's and Providence College respectively, are teammates once again - both are members of the Easton-based Bay State Select women's semi-pro soccer team (1-2 record thus far). The league is a feeder program for the Women's Professional Soccer League, which is the highest level of women's soccer in the U.S. Roncarati had the match-winner in a 2-1 decision over Maine and Leaverton had two goals in two matches. Leaverton was named to the WPSL Team of the Week. Leaverton had a breakout rookie campaign for the Red Storm soccer team in 2008, leading the team in shots on goals (16), scoring three goals. She was the only freshman to see action in all 19 contests ... Stopping by the baseball diamond at Natick High for his first view of his former Norton High Lancer baseball team was former coach Dave Mollica. "I don't miss the coaching, there's a lot of effort that goes into it." Mollica was adamant about not hanging around Adams Field to watch the Lancers, "I didn't want to show up and have him (Lancer coach Ted Currle) and people think that I'm looking over his shoulder" ...

Former Dighton-Rehoboth High baseball star Brad Koneski, the senior second baseman for the Bridgewater State baseball team, played in the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association All-Star game Thursday in Brockton. Koneski hit .371 for the Bears with 25 RBI, 44 runs scored and a perfect 32-for-32 in stolen bases ...

Bob Goldberg's unbeaten, Hockomock League champion King Philip High girls' tennis team, will have to wait until 4:30 Saturday afternoon (or later), to meet Wellesley at Westwood High for the MIAA Division 1-South Tournament title - due to SAT's being held that morning. "We have to win second and third singles," said Goldberg of the matchup. "Traditionally they're good, they're a power." The match is a doubleheader, the second half of the Division 1-South Boys' Tournament pitting Wellesley against Framingham, which is slated to start at 3 ...

Former Bishop Feehan High baseball standout Frank Pesanello rewrote the Northeastern University record for career home runs with 44, hitting one in each of the final three games this season for the Huskies. Sheila McKenna of Attleboro and her High Fives women's senior hoop team came home from Trinity College in Hartford with a silver medal, losing the title match in overtime.
