SEEKONK - Residents may soon get to say how they feel about the services they have been receiving from town government by filling out a citizens survey.
Town Administrator Michael Carroll introduced the proposal at Wednesday's board of selectmen meeting.
The survey form would be distributed to the 200-plus voters at the June 18 town meeting. Participants would be asked to rate the quality of town services, in addition to ranking Seekonk's overall quality of life.
Carroll said the results would aid in establishing priorities for next year's budget, as well as giving town officials indications of how services can be improved upon.
Selectmen were divided about the survey.
"I think it's a great idea," said Selectman Dave Parker, noting the survey would be beneficial. "Anything that gets us information, I'm all for."
Selectman Michael Brady had his doubts, stating the responses from town meeting voters would not be a sufficient sampling of the populace.
Selectmen Chairman Francis Cavaco instructed Carroll to contact the school committee chairman about asking for their participation in crafting the survey.
