"Mary Brigit Poppleton is Writing a Memoir," a play by Madeline Walter and directed by Community College of Rhode Island theater professor Bert Silverberg, will be performed by the CCRI Players, featuring an 11-member cast, at the Knight Campus in Warwick on Thursday, Dec. 4 through Sunday, Dec. 7.

The play tells the story of Mary Brigit, a 17-year-old from Ohio who decides to write her own memoir. Thinking her real life is dull and uninteresting, she decides to fictionalize her story by attempting to convince her Catholic family that she is in fact pregnant. On the advice of a parish teen crisis counselor, she then leaves home to spend the summer working and living among strangers on Long Island, one of whom is a young man who has no idea that he has been identified in Mary Brigit's memoir as the father of her imaginary child. The production has been entered in the Region 1 American College Theater Festival and is eligible for several awards.

For ticket reservations, call 825-2219. Tickets are $9 for the general public and $7 for CCRI faculty, staff and students.
