REHOBOTH - A Rehoboth man who was the owner of a Fall River Concrete company has been indicted on a manslaughter charge in connection with the 2007 death of a 9-year-old Fall River boy who fell into a concrete sand hopper.
Scott J. Douglass, 48, of 114 Martin St. in Rehoboth, owner of Quality Concrete in Fall River, has been charged with a single count of manslaughter in connection with the Aug. 18, 2007, death of Codey Duclos, of Fall River.
Duclos died a day after falling into a concrete sand hopper while playing on a pile of sand at the site of the Quality Concrete plant.
"Our investigation shows young Codey Duclos' tragic death could have been averted were it not for the wanton and reckless conduct of Mr. Douglass...," District Attorney Sam Sutter said.
A woman who answered the telephone at Quality Concrete's corporate offices said no one from the company was available to comment.
Douglass will be arraigned in Bristol County Superior Court on a date yet to be determined.
