NORTH ATTLEBORO - Judy Shevory has been chosen as Attleboro Enterprises Inc.'s 2009 John Alves Award recipient.
The award was established in memory of staff member John Alves and his commitment to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
It is presented annually to an AEI participant who has been supported by the vocational program for at least two years, has displayed exemplary attendance, positive attitude and empathy for others, and demonstrated achievement in the face of adversity.
Shevory has been part of AEI's Vocational Program for many years and for the past two years has been employed by Bristol Elder Services at the Attleboro Council on Aging, working five days a week.
Her main responsibility is to prepare nutritious lunches and desserts for the Meals on Wheels program that helps provide meals for the elderly who can not always provide for themselves.
"Judy is an incredible asset to the organization and her positive attitude sets the standard for her peers." said Pat Hornbuckle, Shevory's former supervisor.
