Speaking of playing golf, the United Regional Chamber of Commerce's last golf tournament of the year will be held July 13. The 11th Annual Charity Open benefits Community VNA Hospice Care and The Arc of Northern Bristol County.

The tournament will be held at the Norton Country Club and includes 18 holes of golf, cart rental, silent auction, lunch and dinner for $175. Registration, team photos, and lunch are scheduled at 11 a.m. and the shotgun start is at 1 p.m. The putting contest will begin at 5 p.m. followed by dinner, silent auction, raffles and awards at 6 p.m. Tournament sponsors include Sovereign Bank as a major sponsor, and Cruise One and Norwegian Cruise Line, which have provided a hole-in-one prize of a Hawaiian cruise for two with a round of golf in Hawaii. You can do some networking later in the month at North Bowl Lanes in North Attleboro, when the United Regional Chamber of Commerce holds "Business After Hours" on June 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. The cost is $5 for members; $10 for non-members. Register by calling 508-222-0801.

American Credit Counseling Service, Inc. will continue its series of free monthly financial education workshops from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 30 at its education center at 4 Taunton St., Suite 5 in Plainville.

This month's workshop is entitled "Has Your Credit Cost You a Job?" Topics of discussion will include the five steps to become credit-worthy again, which will improve your chances of finding new employment. Trinitarian Congregational Church has formed a new group to provide the community of Norton a place for persons recently unemployed or people seeking better employment a place to meet. The group is open to all including employers seeking employees. This is an open environment to share and exchange employment info, learn and practice interview techniques, resume reviews, networking and general support for people seeking employment in these difficult times.
