Top Headlines William Joseph Courville, 64 Retired automotive salesman ATTLEBORO - William "Billy" Joseph Courville, 64, of Meunier Avenue, South Attleboro, died on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 following an illness first diagnosed in October 2007 at his residence as he was surrounded by the love of his family. He was the husband of Carol Ann (Vaillancourt) Courville to whom he was married on July 7, 1990. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts on September 13, 1944, he was a son of the late Henry and Beatrice (Roy) Courville. He was raised and educated in his native community of Fall River where he was a graduate of Durfee High School. He made his home in Attleboro for more than 20 years having previously resided in Rehoboth. Mr. Courville was a communicant of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church, South Attleboro. He was employed as an automotive salesman for Gallery Automotive in Norwood and previously for Vachon Mazda in South Attleboro for eight years. Prior to working in the automotive industry, Mr. Courville was employed for more than 20 years as a sales representative for Texas Instruments in Attleboro. An ardent bowler, he was a member of the East Providence Friday Night Live Club. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Pawtucket Lodge of Elks League at Stone-E-Lea Golf Course in Attleboro. Mr. Courville was a NASCAR enthusiast and a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New York Giants. In addition to his wife of 18 years, he leaves two daughters: Ashley Courville, a 2009 Attleboro High School graduate, at home in South Attleboro; Stacey Sternberg of North Providence, Rhode Island; a son: Dr. Jeffrey Courville, D.V.M. of Fort Mill, South Carolina; two grandchildren: Jackson Courville and Allison Courville both of Fort Mill, South Carolina; a sister: Barbara A. Wolstenholme of Somerset; two brothers: Joey Courville in Indiana and Kenneth Courville in California and several extended family members and friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 8, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, 3/4 mile on left), Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. A funeral service will follow visitation on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, 3/4 mile on left), Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with Rev. Louise Marie Hall, 67 FOXBORO - Louise Marie (Fontana) Hall, age 67, died on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at her home surrounded by the comfort of her loving family. Louisa was the daughter of the late Dominic and Rosina (Cantera) Fontana. Louise was born in Jamaica Plain on May 18, 1942 and was a graduate of Jamaica Plain High School. She and her husband Paul were married on February 6, 1973 and she has been a Foxborough resident since 1975. Louise was an office manager for Bay Colony Group, Inc. in Foxborough. She was a hard worker and loved to keep her house spotless. She enjoyed visits to her family home in Ofena, Italy, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and aunt. Beloved wife of Paul H. Hall. Loving mother of Paul M. Hall of Provincetown. Devoted sister of Rosemarie and her husband William Buckley of Foxborough and Lena and her husband Raymond Mecuri of Wilmington. Also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. Benson, 64, formerly of Plainville, passed away on June 2, 2009 in Saratoga Springs, New York. She was the wife of Maurice H. Benson. Born in Reggio Calabria, Italy on April 20, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Aurie and Constance (Fontanna) Tanzi. Catherine was raised in Brooklyn, New York, and was a graduate of St. John Villa Academy in Staten Island. She recently had worked as a cashier for Price Chopper in Saratoga Springs. Her greatest joy was in spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Brian Benson of West Orange, New Jersey, Matthew Benson of Bangor, Maine, and a step-daughter, Mary-Lynne Rodrigues of Florida. She is also survived by two grandsons, Kyle Benson and Demetri Rodrigues. A funeral will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. from the John J. Diamond Funeral Home, 180 North Washington Street, North Attleboro followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Martha's Church, South Street, Plainville. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. Burial will be private. Cross, 83 MANSFIELD - William R. Cross, 83, a lifelong resident of Mansfield passed away on Friday, May 29, 2009 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare Center in Norton. He was the beloved husband of Gladys S. (Schofield) Cross. Born in Providence, Rhode Island on September 25, 1925 he was a son of the late Albert S. and Dorothy (Ramspott) Cross. Bill grew up in Mansfield and was a graduate of Mansfield High School. During WWII he proudly served his country in the United States Army. On March 14, 1946 he was honorably discharged with the rank of private first class. Prior to retiring 18 years ago, Mr. Cross was employed for the Mansfield School Department for 10 years as a school bus driver. He had also owned his own sign painting company and had worked at the former Fuller's Hardware in Mansfield and when younger had sold school equipment for the Brunswick Co. in Michigan. Bill's hobbies included playing golf, playing pool and painting. He had attended the Orthodox Congregational Church in Mansfield and treasured the times spent with family and friends. In addition to his beloved wife of 62 years he was the devoted father of Debra C. McKenna and her husband Scott of Coventry, Rhode Island and the late Jacqueline C. Cullen. He was the brother of A. Stanley Cross of Charleston, South Carolina and Elinor Vernon of Palm Harbor, Florida. Mr. Cross is also survived by his adoring grandchildren Carlton McKenna of Rhode Island and Matthew Cullen, William Cullen, Julia Bresette and Catherine Cullen all of Wisconsin as well as 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend committal services with military honors on Monday June 8 at 1 p.m. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
