Patricia M. (Smith) Weston, 58

RIVERVIEW, Fla. - Patricia M. (Smith) Weston, 58, of Riverview, Fla., formerly of North Attleboro, died on Thursday, June 11, 2009, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in North Attleboro on March 18, 1951, she was the daughter of Madeline A. (Taylor) Smith of Bay Springs, Miss. and the late John E. Smith

Raised and educated in North Attleboro, Patricia was a 1969 graduate of North Attleboro High School. In addition to her beloved mother, Patricia is survived by her sons Brett S. Weston; Stiles M. Weston and his spouse Katrina L. Weston; her cherished grandchildren, Matthew S. Weston and Shannon E. Weston; and her former husband G. Donald Weston II all of Riverview, Fla.

She is also survived by her sister Linda M. Germaine of Bay Springs, Miss.; her brother Thomas M. Smith of Citra, Fla. and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was the maternal granddaughter of the late Herbert and Ethel May Williams; paternal granddaughter of the late John A. and Susan (Hayes) Smith.

Services are private.

Patricia will be cremated with her ashes spread upon her father's grave in Wrentham at a later date.

Donna L. (Slaney) Perry, 59

RAYNHAM - Donna L. (Slaney) Perry, 59 and of Raynham, a former Norton resident, died Friday June 12, 2009 at Rhode Island Hospital following a short illness. She was the former wife of John Perry.

Born in Boston, January 29, 1950, a daughter of the late Arthur and Hazel B. (Nickerson) Slaney, she was raised and educated in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston.

Donna worked in the health care profession for most of her life. She recently accepted a position with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, just prior to her death. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her pets, and also enjoyed travel and knitting.

She is survived by two sons: Brian Perry of Attleboro and Michael A. Perry of Tyngsboro; three brothers: Wayne Nickerson of Maine, Richard Slaney of Georgia and Bernard Slaney of Taunton; a sister: Diane DiFronzo of Randolph; two grandchildren: Makalya and Matthew Perry and her loving companion and best friend, John Umbrello.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the New England Chapel, 40 Kenwood Circle, Franklin, MA 02038. Rev. Christopher Mitchell, pastor, will officiate. Private interment services will take place in the family lot in Highland Cemetery, Norwood.

Susan E. Root, 59

PAXTON - Susan E. (Habershaw) Root, 59, of Pleasant Street, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009 in Tuft's New England Medical Center, Boston, after a courageous 7-year battle with Leukemia, with her loving family at her side.

Susan leaves her husband of 38 years, John C. Root; her son, Lennart W. Root and his wife Michelle of Holden, Maine; her daughter, Sara E. Root-Simone and her husband Scott of Paxton; five grandchildren, Austin Root, Jordan McCollum and Garrett McCollum, all of Holden, Maine; and Maia and Ronin Simone of Paxton; two sisters, Catherine Eklund and her husband John of Phillipston and Mary Ann Gleezen and her husband Kerry of Minot, Maine; two brothers, Peter Habershaw and his wife Diane of Chaumont, New York and Charles Habershaw of Athol; and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.

Susan was born in Providence, Rhode Island, daughter of Robert and Marie Irene (Hall) Habershaw and lived in North Attleboro before moving to Barre, then living in Paxton for the past 38 years. She was a member of the last graduating class from Barre High School and earned degrees from the New England School of Accounting, Central New England College and earned a B.A. in Humanities from Clark University, all in Worcester.

Susan worked in the Accounting Department of Worcester County National Bank before raising her children. She also worked briefly for Central New England College before working at The Goddard Library at Clark University as an Administrative Assistant to the University Librarian for almost 20 years.

She was a member of St. Columba Church in Paxton and was involved in varying capacities with a number of local organizations and groups. She also coordinated all the activities and events of the Friends of Goddard Library. Susan was past president of the Paxton Women's Club and enjoyed travelling in the U.S. and Ireland, photography and her iris gardens. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 1 to 3 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 20th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
