Top Headlines Catherine (Iaconis) Plante, 93 HAMDEN, CONN. - Catherine (Iaconis) Plante, 93, formerly of North Attleboro, died peacefully Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the Hamden Health Care Center in Hamden, Conn. Catherine was born on Feb. 19, 1916 in Casino, Catanzaro, Italy. She was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Maria (Lamanna) Iaconis. Catherine was predeceased by her husband, Emile A. Plante; a brother, John Iaconnis; a sister, Isabella Iaconis Sacco; a daughter, Mary Jane Plante; and grandson, Sol Plante. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Plante Pontolilo; sons Gregory, Arthur and John Plante; and her beloved sister-in-law, Beatrice Plante Gaboury. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Catherine came to the United States with her family at age 11 and was educated in New York City schools. She graduated from St. Joseph's College, Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1939. Catherine was the first lay teacher at St. Mary's School in North Attleboro and later taught in the Plainville school system. She was a past member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass on Monday, June 22 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 14 Park St., North Attleboro. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Attleboro Falls. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the John J. Diamond Funeral Home, 180 North Washington St., North Attleboro. Lescault Sr., 83 COVENTRY, R.I. - Alfred R. Lescault Sr., 83, of Windsor Park Drive, died Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Kent County Memorial Hospital, Warwick, R.I. He was the husband of the late Joyce I. (Boucher) Lescault. Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Alfred R. and Rose A. (Michaud) Lescault, he had lived in New York before moving to Coventry 23 years ago. Mr. Lescault was the owner of Lescault Service in Pawtucket and North Attleboro, Mass. before retiring. He had also worked as a lace weaver. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He is survived by one daughter, Brenda Linfield of South Attleboro, Mass.; three sons: Wayne Lescault, Allen Lescault and Alfred R. Lescault Jr.; four sisters: Lola Gregoire and Gloria McManus, both of Lincoln, Alice Lauzon of New Jersey and Madeleine Marsden of Attleboro, Mass.; five grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Helen Robitaille. His funeral will be held Tuesday, June 23 at 8:30 a.m. from the Bellows-Falso Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Teresa's Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Burial with military honors will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. (Fortin) Paquin, 87, passed away Friday, June 19, 2009 at home. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond A. Paquin. Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Antonio and Exelia (Goyette) Fortin, she resided in Seekonk since 1924. Rita was a longtime and very active parishioner of St. Stephen's Church, Attleboro. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and bingo. She leaves two sisters, Claire B. Dean and Ilene J. Brown, both of Seekonk, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was the mother of the late Douglas R. Paquin and the sister of the late Raymond L. Fortin, Beatrice J. Dargis, Theresa C. Teixeira and Donald R. Fortin. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, June 22 at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen's Church, 683 South Main St., Attleboro. (Leger) Legere, 97, of Attleboro passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Attleboro. She was the wife of the late Edward Legere. Elise was born in Canada, the daughter of the late Alfred and Regena (Alain) Leger. She devoted her life to raising her family. Mrs. Legere was a member of the Attleboro community for 57 years and was a resident of Christopher Heights for the past eight years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and reading. Elise also kept up with current events and local politics. At one time, she worked for General Findings, a jewelry manufacturer, until her retirement several years ago. Mrs. Legere was also a longtime communicant at Saint Joseph Church in Attleboro. Survivors are her four children: Arthur P. Leger and his wife Pauline of Attleboro, Lorraine Romikaitis of Attleboro, Clarence Leger and his wife Barbara of Nevada, and Dorine Charest of Taunton; a sister, Bertha Devlin of Canada; two brothers, Zenon Leger of Canada, and Elie Leger of Pomona, Calif.; nine grandchildren: Alan Leger, Judy Boucher, Alayne Ford, LeeAnn Whitis, Lynette Chartier, Chris Leger, Mark Leger, Carrie-Ann Duclos and Regina Rheaume; several great and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Bernard Leger and sister of the late Marie Lambert, Victor, Desere, Gerald and Roger Leger. Her funeral will be held on Monday, June 22 at 9 a.m. from the Foley-Hathaway Funeral Home, 126 South Main St., Attleboro, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Joseph Church, 208 South Main St., Attleboro. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in Saint Stephen's Cemetery, Attleboro.
