Obituaries were published for Ella "Bea" Dubuc, 80, of Attleboro; Irene Houle, 81, of Attleboro; Catharine Miller, 95, of Foxboro; and Sr. Yvonne Phoenix, 95, of North Attleboro.

Ella "Bea" Dubuc, 80

ATTLEBORO - Ella "Bea" B. (Cote) Dubuc, 80, of Attleboro passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at the EPOCH in Norton, Mass. She was the wife of 59 years to Rodrigue Arcade Dubuc.

Ella was born in Attleboro, the daughter of the late Raymond and Marion (Bicknell) Cote.

Bea, as she liked to be called, was the best mom. She loved her five boys from the time they were born. They were her concern and highlight everyday along with her husband and other family members. Bea was her husband's caretaker, and she never complained about how hard it was at certain times. She continued to express caring thoughts for her family just before her passing. It was always about everyone else, and she sacrificed to give her family the best she could.

When Bea took time for herself, she enjoyed bingo, bowling from which she received numerous trophies, and traveling to Florida and across the country to visit family and friends. Mrs. Dubuc also enjoyed yardwork and tending to her roses and flowers.

She was grateful to all those that cared for her during her short illness and will be sadly missed by all of those that loved her.

Survivors beside her husband are five sons: Douglas R. Dubuc of Attleboro, Mass., Dennis R. Dubuc of Sharon, Mass., Scott D. Dubuc of Attleboro, Mass., Robert A. Dubuc of Attleboro, Mass., and Brian J. Dubuc of South Yarmouth, Mass.; a brother, Raymond K. Cote of Elcajon, Calif.; two step-brothers, John Cote of Tucson, Ariz. and William Cote of Kirkland, Wash.; six grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Foley-Hathaway Funeral Home, 126 South Main St., Attleboro. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Burial will be held on Saturday, June 27 at 10 a.m. in Saint Stephen's Cemetery, Attleboro.

Irene Houle, 81

ATTLEBORO - Irene Delma (Ray) Houle, 811/2, of Hillside Avenue, Attleboro; formerly of Read Street, South Attleboro, died on Monday, June 22, 2009 at the home of her daughter in Attleboro surrounded by the love and devotion of her family. She was the wife for 53 years of the late Albert J. Houle Sr., who died on Feb. 18, 2002. Mr. and Mrs. Houle's 61st wedding anniversary is Friday, June 26, 2009.

Born in Attleboro, Mass. on Oct. 30, 1927, she was the only daughter of the late Armand and Alice (Forand) Ray. She was raised and educated in her native city and remained a lifelong resident. Mrs. Houle and her husband were the managers of the Hawthorne Village Apartments in North Attleboro for more than 10 years, and she had been employed as the manager of the Highlander Laudromat on Pleasant Street in Attleboro for more than 17 years prior to her retirement.

She was a longtime communicant of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Attleboro.

Her proudest legacy was the unconditional love she graced her family with throughout the years. She will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was the mother of Dale Ann Marcotte of Pawtucket, R.I., Albert J. Houle Jr. of North Attleboro, David W. Houle of Attleboro, Laura J. Watters of Attleboro, Linda Lee Perry of Attleboro and the late Neil R. Houle, who died in 1996. She leaves 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Robert Ray and William Ray.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, June 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Ave. (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, 3/4 mile on left), Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.

John Murray, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery in the Dodgeville section of Attleboro. Following services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced. Catharine Miller, 95

FOXBORO - Catharine H. (Hayden) Miller, 95, of Foxboro, formerly of Braintree, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2009 at the Doolittle Home in Foxboro where she had resided for the last 16 years.

She was born in Newton on July 19, 1913. She was a graduate of Newton High School, and subsequently attended Framingham State Teachers College where she studied home economics.

Prior to her marriage, she had worked as a dental assistant in Boston.

She spent many summers at the family home in Cotuit, Cape Cod where she developed a knowledge and love for animals, flowers, and the seashore. Her relatives in the Hayden family still reside in Cotuit.

For many years, she attended a camp in Vermont where she enjoyed horseback riding, leatherwork, and archery.

Catharine resided in Braintree from 1938 to 1993 and was an active member of All Souls Unitarian-Universalist Church, where she belonged to the Women's Alliance. She was a member of the Braintree Garden Club and had been a member of the local bridge club.

She had been a volunteer at the Thrift Shop of Emmanuel Parish in Braintree and had also been a volunteer at the Trailside Museum in Milton as well as at the South Shore Hospital.

Catharine had a lifelong love of poetry which she shared in recent years with her fellow residents of the Doolittle Home.

Catharine was the wife of the late Everett H. Miller, who died in 1988.

She is survived by four children: Nancy M. Kimball, married to Robert Boyea of Diamond Point, N.Y.; Jean A. Brockelbank, married to Larry Brockelbank of Midland, Ontario, Canada; James W. Miller, married to Marie Miller of Marshfield Hills; and Marilyn I. Miller of Randolph. She is survived by six grandchildren: Wayne D. Kant and Wendy S. Carroll, both of Amsterdam, N.Y., Robyn K. Leib of Midland, Ontario, Alexander D. MacDougall of Toronto, Megan E. Miller of Weymouth and Jefferson C. Miller of Boston. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Richard Blais of Midland, Ontario, and Liam MacDougall and Ella MacDougall, both of Toronto.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 11 at 2:30 p.m. at the Universalist Church, 4 Bird St., Foxboro, MA 02035. Relatives and friends are cordially invited.

The burial will be private for family members at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Doolittle Home, 16 Bird Street, Foxboro, MA 02035.

Sr. Yvonne Phoenix, 95

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Sister Yvonne Phoenix, SUSC (Sr. Marie Gemma) a resident of Madonna Manor, North Attleboro, Mass., died on June 21, 2009 at the age of 95.

She was born in Pawtucket, R.I., the daughter of the late Honorius and Alphonsine (Sicard) Phoenix.

In addition to her Holy Union Sisters, she leaves a niece, Camille Broussard of Pawtucket.

Her sisters, Jeannette Phoenix Baris and Theresa Phoenix Morrisseau, predeceased her.

Sister Yvonne attended St. John the Baptist Academy and graduated from Pawtucket Senior High School.

She entered the Holy Union Sisters in Fall River, Mass. in 1933 and pronounced her vows on July 26, 1934. She attended Catholic Teachers' College, Providence, Manhattanville College, New York and graduated from Sacred Heart School of Education, Fall River.

Her teaching career spanned nearly 50 years in schools in Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island. Her first teaching assignment was at Sacred Heart School, North Attleboro where she taught all the grades during her 12 years there.

She then taught at Immaculate Conception School, Astoria, N.Y. and her home parish of St. John the Baptist, Pawtucket, where in addition to her classroom teaching, she also taught music.

She served as principal and superior at Sacred Heart, North Attleboro from 1954 to 59. She taught grade 6 at the Country Day School of the Holy Union, Groton, Mass.

She assisted with the community food services at Notre Dame Convent, Cambridge and St. Joseph Pre-primary School, Lunenburg where she also gave music lessons. She returned to the Country Day School as a French teacher from 1973 to 78.

She left formal teaching in 1978 to provide service at St. Michael Parish, Swansea, Mass. She assisted the elderly sisters at St. Mary's Villa, Lowell and then lived in the Holy Union community in Worcester, Mass.

She joined the retirement community at St. Mary's Convent, North Attleboro in 1981 where she resided until 1998.

During this time, she served for seven years as a pastoral minister at Madonna Manor, North Attleboro, visiting the patients, especially those with no family members, played the organ and sang at masses, and was sacristan.

Sister Yvonne was recognized at the Volunteer Appreciation celebration and when she celebrated her 80th birthday, she was honored at a surprise springtime social to mark her retirement.

She joined other Holy Union Sisters at Madonna Manor in 1998 and remained there until her death. In 2008, she observed the 75th anniversary of her entrance into Holy Union.

The wake will be at Sacred Heart Church, 58 Church St., North Attleboro on Wednesday, June 24 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a prayer vigil at 10:30 a.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at Sacred Heart Church at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, North Attleboro.
