PAWTUCKET - Freddy Guzman's bases-loaded single with no one out in the bottom of the ninth made walkoff winners of the Pawtucket Red Sox Saturday night at McCoy Stadium as they topped the Syracuse SkyChiefs, 3-2.
Paul McAnulty led off the ninth with a ground-rule double to right-center. After a walk to Gil Velazquez and a bunt single by Angel Chavez, Guzman laced a single to center to snap a 2-all tie and win it for the PawSox.
Hunter Jones (2-2) got the win after pitching a scoreless top of the ninth. Pawtucket starter Clay Buchholz went six solid innings, allowing just one earned run on four hits and two walks while striking out six.
Jeff Bailey (2-for-4) hit a two-run home run in the first for the PawSox but Syracuse came back to tie with single runs in the third and sixth innings.
