Wrentham residents can pay taxes online

WRENTHAM - Property owners can now pay their real estate and personal property taxes online on the town's Web site, www.wrentham.ma.us.

The new payment method accommodates residents who want the convenience of paying their taxes online, any time day or night, town officials say.

It also benefits the town since payments are processed automatically, allowing more timely deposits.

The payment option will be available through the due date of the next quarter tax bill, Aug. 3.

"We realize the importance of keeping with the times and offering this new online payment option," Finance Director Karen Jelloe said. "We are fortunate to have found a banking partner, UniBank, who has years of financial experience and who adheres to strict security methods to protect our residents personal information."

UniBank uses encryption methods to safely handle the transactions, Jelloe said.

The process for residents to pay online is simple. With your bill and checkbook in hand: Log on to www.wrentham.ma.us, click on the Online Bill Payment Center button, and complete each screen to process your payment.

Residents should be aware there is no charge for payments made online from a checking account. However, payments made by credit card will result in a processing fee paid to the credit card company by the taxpayer.

The town hopes to add online payment of motor vehicle taxes next calendar year.
