Post 312 pounds Acushnet



Lucas Gagne had six RBI for South Attleboro Post 312.




ACUSHNET - Paul Piatelli gave up just one hit in five innings of work and Lucas Gagne drove in six runs as the South Attleboro Post 312 baseball team pounded Acushnet 11-0 Friday in American Legion action.

Piatelli allowed just the one hit while striking out nine in the mercy-rule shortened game.

Gagne had three hits - all of them doubles - to account for the six RBI. Bishop Feehan teammate Ryan Lee helped out with two hits and two RBI as Piost 312 improved to 6-0 on the season, 3-0 in Zone 9 play.

South Attleboro is back in action this morning (10:30) against Somerset at Beach Field.

Norton 4, Fairhaven 0
NORTON - Nick Salvo and Tom Michienzi combined on a two-hit shutout as Norton Post 222 posted the win.

Salvo gave up the two hits and walked four while striking out five. Michienzi worked two perfect innings to nail down the victory.

Norton (2-1) got two runs in the second as Jon Palmer singled, stole and scored on an RBI single by Sean Ryan. Devin Askew also walked, moved to second on a passed ball and later scored on a wild pitch. In the fouth, Norton doubled its lead as A.J. Bashaw ripped a two-run double.

Norfolk 5, Medfield 3

NORFOLK - Jared Clement pitched six strong innings and drove in three runs as Post 335 knocked off Medfield at Freeman-Centennial Field.

Clement, a St. Sebastian's product, gave up five hits and struck out three in his six innings of work. Mike Arthur came on and pitched a quiet seventh for the save.

Norfolk led this one from start to finish, breaking a scoreless tie with four runs in the third. In that frame, Kevin Pimental and Alex Lagos had RBI doubles and Clement a two-run triple. Clement added an insurance run in a 4-3 game in the fifth as his sacrifice fly plated Connor Richards, who had doubled earlier in the inning.

Now 5-2, Norfolk takes on Foxboro Sunday.

JUNIOR LEGION

North Attleboro 6, Taunton 3
NORTH ATTLEBORO - Kevin Michienzi pitched four solid innings in his first pitching performance of the year as the North Attleboro Junior Legion team doubled up Taunton.

Michienzi, a product of Bishop Feehan, missed the high school season after breaking a bone in his leg during tryouts. The righty was on the shelf before making his first start for the Junior Legion team, giving up five hits, two walks and three unearned runs in the four innings. He also struck out four.

Garrett Briggs worked three scoreless innings of relief for the save.

Offensively, North Attleboro had six runs on seven hits, Matt Smith setting the tone with a leadoff triple.

North Attleboro (5-0) takes on Fall Rive on Monday evening.
