SUN CHRONICLE STAFF
REHOBOTH - A Pawtucket man faces assault charges for allegedly throwing a plasma TV and a chair at his stepfather, then striking a police officer responding to the disturbance call over the holiday weekend.
Police say they "forcibly restrained" Rion A. Mariscal, 24, of Pawtucket, before taking him into custody after the incident Saturday at 82 Rocky Hill Ave.
Police received a 911 call from Mariscal's 16-year-old step-sister about 10 p.m., Police Chief Stephen Enos said.
The girl told police she locked herself in a bathroom because Mariscal was attacking her father. Police said Mariscal was "combative" with officers when they arrived.
Mariscal then allegedly assaulted Sgt. James Medeiros while struggling with him and Officer Nicole Eastwood.
Neither officer was injured, Enos said.
Mariscal was treated at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro before being returned to the police station for booking.
Police charged Mariscal with assault and battery, assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.
Mariscal was released after posting $240 bail. He was ordered to stay away from 82 Rocky Hill Ave.
He faces arraignment in Taunton District Court.
