They were Hockomock League champions, runners-up at the MIAA Div. 2 Meet and third at the All-States, and it should come as no surprise that the Hornets of Mansfield High are at the top of the list when it comes to this year's Sun Chronicle boys' track all-star team.

Mansfield, Bishop Feehan and North Attleboro all have three athlete's on this year's 20-man squad, while Dighton-Rehoboth, Foxboro, Seekonk and Attleboro all have two apiece.

The Hornets are led by senior standouts Patrick Grimes and Dan Glavin. Grimes repeatedly and literally went the distance for Mansfield during the season, holding the school record in the mile, while Glavin makes this year's team again for his work in the shot put and discus. Mansfield's string of eight-straight dual-meet Hockomock League titles will be up to Patrick McGowan and Co. next year as the junior two-miler makes another all-star appearance.

Bishop Feehan is led by seniors Tom Effler and Jason Brown, both repeat all-stars. Effler helped the Shamrocks to the MIAA Div. 3 Meet title and was one of the top javelin throwers in the state this year. Brown, a three-time selection, racked up 12 points in that Div. 3 Meet, taking third in both the 110 hurdles and triple jump. They are joined by junior teammate Bobby McShane, a standout in the mile.

North Attleboro is led by the 800 New England champion Nick Wade, who will take his talents to Cornell in the fall. The Red Rocketeers also boast throwing events standout Kevin Peter (junior) and speedster Vladimir Francois (junior).
Other all-stars include Gil O'Neil of Norton, Tri-County's Lucas Mistler and King Philip freshman phenom Chris Allen.
