Bus driver Richard Lynch retired on Dec. 31, ending 10.3 years here. Retiring on Oct. 31 were: Igo school cook/manager Ruth Cannata, 24.2 years; and bus driver Richard Thomas, 10 years. Special education secretary Margaret Smith retired on Oct. 10, ending four years here. Enjoy some family fun The Learning Experience will host a Family Fun Day event as part of the Chestnut Green Plaza grand opening this Saturday, June 20. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., families may tour the early learning center, meet teachers and do arts and crafts. The center's mascot, Bubbles the Elephant, will appear. The Learning Experience is located at 121 Main St., Unit 301. Foxboro GOP hears from pair The Foxboro Republican Town Committee hosted WRKO 680 AM host Todd Feinburg and "The Lone Republican" Boston Herald columnist and GOP strategist Holly Robichaud at the Lafayette House in Foxboro last week. This was the second major event for the group since hosting 96.9 FM's Michael Graham in January. Check out frogs at library The Boyden Library in Foxboro will present "Hey Frogs, What Planet Are You From?" on Monday, June 22 in the Fuller Room. Ages 4 to 12 are invited to see frogs from around the world and learn about their strange behaviors, dazzling colors and weird shapes. Admission is free. Health event is coming American Legion Post 93 will host a preventative health event for local residents on Aug. 20. Life Line Screening will offer five non-invasive vascular screenings that take 60 to 90 minutes to complete. Appointments are limited. O'Donnell will appear June 30 as a guest of Vicki Lowe, executive director of the Foxboro Council on Aging and Human Services, on her local cable television show, "Your Scene, Your Center." O'Donnell will discuss some of the real estate issues that affect seniors and homeowners and offer some insight into the protections afforded to homeowners by the Massachusetts Homestead Act and how to take advantage of the Act. There will be discussion about the modernization and technological advancements that have been achieved at the Norfolk Registry of Deeds, and O'Donnell will share some statistics on current real estate trends. The program is expected to air in mid-July on Channel 22 on Wednesdays and Thursday at 1 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. Matt Light plans event The 2009 Matt Light Celebrity Shoot-Out will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at Addieville East Farm in Mapleville, R.I. The signature fundraising event of the Light Foundation, a nonprofit founded in 2001 by New England Patriot Matt Light, the Shoot-Out, now in its fifth year, offers participants the opportunity to match their shooting skills against Light, his teammates, and a host of local and national celebrities, including comedian Lenny Clarke and Olympic skier Bode Miller. Instructors at the Rhode Island course will teach rookies the basics of sporting clay shooting and provide all the necessary equipment. Proceeds from this one-of-kind event benefit the Light Foundation, a youth-based organization that strives to instill honesty, accountability and responsibility in young people through unique outdoor learning experiences that include a character development football camp, a financial literacy program offered at area schools and academic scholarships. In the eight years since the organization was founded, it has raised over $1.2 million to support these programs.
