Blais-Franklin motorcycle run today in North

NORTH ATTLEBORO - The first annual Ron Blais and Greg Franklin Memorial Motorcycle Run will be held today to benefit the American Cancer Society.

The run is held in honor of the late Massachusetts State Police homicide Detective Ronald Blais and the late North Attleboro entrepreneur Gregory Franklin, who headed Franklin Environmental Services. Both died of cancer.

"Losing a parent to cancer is one of the most difficult things anyone can experience, and our goal is help battle against these terrible diseases by generating as much of a donation for the American Cancer Society as possible," said Ryan Blais, who is Ron's son.

Registration for the ride begins at 9 a.m. today at Noble Hardware, 605 East Washington St. (Route 1), and the motorcycles will leave promptly at 11:15. They will ride through back roads of North Attleboro for close to an hour before concluding at the North Attleboro Elks on 52 Bulfinch St.

Once all riders arrive at the Elks, food and drinks will be available, as well as live music, a horseshoe tournament and a raffle. The cost of the event is $35 for riders and $25 for non-riders. The ticket includes a T-shirt, food and entrance into the raffle. E-mail blais.ryan@gmail.com or call 508-212-4169 to learn more.
