REHOBOTH - Two men traded blows with metal tiki torches - which were lit at one point - outside a Rehoboth home Sunday night.
Frank M. Aguiar, 47, of Providence, who is separated from his wife, allegedly went to 24 Victoria Lane to retrieve belongings when he got into an argument with a male guest shortly before 8:50 p.m. Sunday, Police Chief Stephen Enos said.
Aguiar and the guest then began hitting each other with metal tiki torches in the yard, Enos said Tuesday. Aguiar was treated for head injuries at the scene, and then at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, the police chief said.
Enos declined to say whether Aguiar was treated for burns. He said the guest wasn't treated.
Police charged Aguiar with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, the torches. He was released on personal recognizance after his arraignment Monday in Taunton District Court, a court official said. Enos said police may charge the second man.
The incident remains under investigation.
