Woman seriously injured in Plainville crash

PLAINVILLE - Two drivers were injured Monday morning, one seriously, when their cars collided at Route 1 and George Street.

Lauren Ober, 25, of Wrentham, was driving southbound on Route 1 when her car and a car entering the highway from Dunkin' Donuts and attempting to go north on Route 1 collided, Patrolman William McEvoy said.

The driver of the other car, Kimberly Davis, 41, of Plainville, was trapped in her car and had to be freed from her car by firefighters using the Jaws of Life extrication tool, according to police and fire officials.

She was taken by Plainville ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. Her injuries were described as serious but not life threatening. Her condition was unavailable Monday afternoon.

Ober was taken by North Attleboro ambulance to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro where she was released after treatment. Davis was given a traffic ticket after an investigation by Sgt. Scott Gallerani and Patrolman Wayne Cohen.

The crash occurred about 7:30 a.m. and backed up traffic from George Street to Route 106.

At the same time, police and firefighters were dispatched to a two-car accident at routes 152 and 106 but no injuries were reported.

" liss: Read the article again, Ober (25) was driving southbound on Rt.1 when Davis (41) was pulling out of DD attempting to cross the 2 southbound lanes of Rt. 1 to head north. Ober has the right of way. Davis probably received citation for failure to use care and caution when pulling into traffic. I think you owe someone an apology, Don't you? "

" hey Liza5326, in case you didn't read, it said that Kimberly Davis was the one at fault--NOT the woman who was pulling out of dunkin donuts. idiot. "

" actually nobody has died from caffeine. maybe from pills with caffeine and a bunch of other stuff combined, but not straight caffeine. "

" caffeine is a drug - a stimulant
People have died from it as it once was the major ingredient in diet pills.
Otherwise, thanks for the nice comments. It's nice to know that someone else in this world has some common sense too. "

" As a resident of a side street off of George St it wasn't to difficult to figure out that a Dunkin Donuts in the middle of a hill where drivers are going a minimum of 55 MPH was going to cause multiple motor vehicle accidents and eventually deaths. From what I recall over the last few years- a pregnant lady gets involved in a serious accident with injuries, a motorcyclist gets killed, and now another accident with serious injury. There have been many others at this intersection but I can only recall the major ones at this time. It might be a good idea for the press to investigate how many accidents have occured at this intersection over the last five years. I am waiting for the day that a tractor trailer going 55 MPH Northbound on Rte 1 plows into the back of a coffee freak who at the last minute jacks on their brakes to make a left hand turn into this place to satisy their drug addiction. Poor planning/thinking on the part of the selectman who allowed this to happen in the first place. "

" It seems to me that Wrentham, Plainville and the state need to figure out a solution for Rte.1. The road from Patriot Place to North Attleboro is just not safe given the population and traffic of the area. How many people need to die at Luciano's and George St. before something is done? "

" I used to live on George Street and let me tell you, there are some freaking idiots that use George Street as a 'cut way' between 106 and route 1. It's sickening. I would never allow my children to play in the front yard because I'd be so scared somejack-@$$ would be too busy playing with their cell phones or radios and would plow into my children. One year on that road and I had to move. People are ridiculous! Pay attention people. Last year a guy on a motorcycle died right there because some stupid head had to cut him off ... "

" nice compassion swede. I was witness to an accident last week which was not life threatening but I never want to see someone in such horrific pain again or hear the terrible moaning of a victim thinking they might die again. Horrible. OH, and 'stunning'. I hope these women are ok. "
