Obama protest draws curious

Woman who confronted Frank brings effort to North
NORTH ATTLEBORO - The woman who was mocked by U.S. Rep. Barney Frank at a town meeting for comparing President Barack Obama to Hitler was at it again in North Attleboro Friday.

The woman is a follower of conspiracy theorist Lyndon LaRouche, a frequent presidential candidate who critics charge is racist and anti-Semitic.

LaRouche, a convicted felon, contends the 9/11 terrorist attacks were a British plot.

The woman, who a LaRouche Web site identified as Rachel Brown, and a colleague stood outside the Post Office with posters depicting Obama with a Hitler mustache.

They handed out literature comparing health care reform to the genocidal policies of the Nazis.
Last summer Brown asked Frank about Obama's Nazi policies during a town meeting on health care in Dartmouth, and Frank famously answered:

"On what planet do you spend most of your time?"

He added: "Ma'am, trying to have a conversation with you would be like trying to argue with the dining room table."

A video of the exchange became a sensation on the Internet and on cable news programs.

The woman acknowledged Friday that she was the one who had the brush up with Frank, and said Frank "has a problem with dining room tables."

Then, she was told by the colleague not to talk to a reporter.

The man said the LaRouche organization does not allow them to talk to the media, and he referred all questions to the organization's public relations person.

The couple had a large poster of Obama on a car across the street from the Post Office and smaller ones at a table in front of the building.

They tried to engage people passing by with the question, "What do you think of his moustache?"

Most ignored them. One passing motorist called them "lunatics."
But, one man, who also declined to give his name, donated a few dollars to them.

He said the Hitler poster "might be a little extreme," but he considers Obama the same as the Nazi leader.

"I think he's exactly like Hitler. Hitler started off as a great speaker. Hitler wanted to rule and he wanted total control," he said.

The man said his main objection to Obama is his spending policies, which he said are bankrupting the country and jeopardizing the future for the next generation.

" Well Splumb, the fact that you believe actual Marxist are trying to undermine our country from within the president's office, and possibly even the president himself, says it all to me. I'm actually a bit surprised that you were not out there with these "private" citizens on Friday. And no where does Mr. Hand 'attack" these private citizens beliefs, as you say. He simply reports that they were out there. But you, I believe, are too blind with conspiracy theories of how Obama is trying to undermine the country. Consider this splumb, you are in a vast minority. If this country became more like, say, France, I personally believe it would be a better thing for the most part. So, good luck. Obama WILL be reelected, especially if your grand hope is dimbulb Sarah Palin. "

" I think it's far more important to rid the Marxist influence surrounding the president, than attack private citizens beliefs. "

" I don't understand s-plumb. Surely you are not so out of touch that you agree with these people and consider Obama as Hitler? If that is what you truely believe, than you are as sad as Vlad says you are. Mr. Hand is simply reporting what he saw. Do you think the situation was otherwise? Do you know something the rest of us don't? What, were these lunatics actually surrounded by hundreds of supporters and like-minded conspiracy nut cases? Anyone who thinks Obama is like Hitler is completely ignorant to history, insane or just trying to draw attention to their pathetic selves. "

" Mr. Hand should stick to his opinion blog, and forget the false act as a journalist. "

"One of the tragedies of the civil rights movement was that the civil rights movement became so court focused, I think, there was a tendency to lose track of the political and organizing activities on the ground that are able to bring about the coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change."

" Barney Frank showed his arrogance by not answering this woman's question. After all he is a public servant and because her political beliefs differ from his, it does not give him the right to berate a citizen. He should have addressed the question and moved on.

Barney Frank needs to go! He has been part of the problem and he will not be a part of the solution. He has sat on the banking committee for over 20 years and yet he knew nothing about the financial crisis?

In July 2008 Barney publicly stated that Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were in good financial shape, two months later they imploded.

Did Barney own stock and was he trying to boost the stock price so he could sell his shares before the meltdown, or did he do this for others?

Barney went to Washington DC, not a millionaire, but now he is one! How does that happen to a public servant? I guess we should all have jobs like Barney and become millionaires! "
