FRANKLIN - Make it three straight shutouts for the Tri-County Regional High football team.
On the strength of two touchdown runs from Randy Hardy and another superb defensive effort, the Cougars chalked up a 28-0 victory over Mayflower League foe Holbrook-Avon Saturday.
"The defense has played great all year long. We've been really aggressive, averaging three or four turnovers a game," said T-C coach Dan MacLean, who lauded the work done by defensive coordinator Ben Colella.
The Cougars had two interceptions - one by Steve Donovan and the other returned 70 yards for a touchdown by Steve Morgante. Tri-County also had a big play on special teams as Ryan Sheehan blocked a punt and Matt Hogan recovered it in the end zone for a third-quarter touchdown to make the score 22-0.
Offensively, Hardy had 123 yards rushing on 25 carries, two touchdowns (15 and 2 yards) and a pair of 2-point conversion runs. Sophomore Steve Hogan also helped the cause with 90 yards rushing on 13 carries.
Tri-County (4-1, 3-0) travels to play Old Colony next Saturday.
