FOXBORO - Enrollment in Foxboro schools this month stood at 2,907 students, down 42 from a year earlier and down 61 students from two years ago.
On Oct. 1, 2007, the official tally of students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12, including ungraded students, was 2,968.
Noting the changes were spread over various grades, Superintendent Christopher Martes said the drop wouldn't warrant eliminating any classrooms.
He said the school department expects the recently opened Lodge At Foxborough apartment complex and the ongoing Chestnut Green project to increase future demand on school services.
But he said the town's five schools could accommodate another 200 students without requiring additional building space.
The district estimates enrollment earlier for budgeting, but the Oct. 1 numbers are head counts. The school-by-school enrollment, as of this month:
Foxboro High, 873.
Ahern Middle, 924.
Igo Elementary School, 397.
Burrell Elementary School, 370.
Taylor Elementary School, 317.
Another 26 Foxboro children are "tuitioned out" to other schools or programs.
