MANSFIELD - After a nearly five-year absence, the town again has an adult day health center on Branch Street.

At a Thursday afternoon ceremony, the Community Visiting Nurses Association officially dedicated its Mansfield Adult Day Health Center, located at 500 Branch St.

Carol Falcone, who runs the new Mansfield center, said the town had a similar center in the same building earlier this decade, but it was closed due to staffing issues about five years ago.

She said the idea was resurrected after Mansfield Cable Access bought the building last year and was looking for a tenant to share the space and creating a win-win for both groups.

"This is the right place, this is the right time, this is the right town," Falcone said. The center currently serves about 20 clients, with hopes of building a base of 60-65 clients in the future, Falcone said.

State Reps. Jay Barrows, R-Mansfield, and Betty Poirier, R-North Attleboro, were on hand Thursday to present an official proclamation from the Legislature to commemorate the day.

"We have a need in our community to work with seniors," Barrows said. "This is an important service, not only to our seniors, but to our community."

Selectmen Jess Aptowitz and Sandra Levine also attended Thursday's dedication ceremony.

The Mansfield center is open Mondays through Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and provides a number or services, based on the needs of its clients.
