MANSFIELD - A convicted drug dealer arrested on heroin-trafficking charges last month in an undercover investigation has been indicted by a Bristol County grand jury.
Joan Alberto Brea, 43, who is being held in jail on bail, faces arraignment Tuesday in New Bedford Superior Court.
Brea was arrested Sept. 25 by Mansfield detectives and the Northern Bristol County Drug Task Force who seized $8,500 worth of suspected heroin in a vacuum-packed plastic bag from his pocket.
Acting on an informant's tip, detectives arrested Brea at the Mansfield Wood Condominium complex on Erick Road.
Prosecutors say Brea has a criminal record with convictions in Boston and Marlborough for drug dealing and served a 7-year prison term in one of the cases and a 3-year prison term in the other. He pleaded innocent in Attleboro District Court after his arrest.
