The New Testament Christian School will hold an open house for interested students and families from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, at 1 New Taunton Ave. New Testament is a pre-kindergarten through grade 12 co-educational Christian day school that has served area families for nearly 40 years.

They shoot turkeys ...

American Legion Post 222, 85 East Main St., will host a turkey shoot at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21. The raffle will consist of 10 individual turkey baskets and a door prize. Call 508-285-3835.

'Beyond America the Beautiful'

The Norton Institute for Continuing Education will hold a free lecture in November. "Katharine Lee Bates: Beyond America the Beautiful" will run from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19. This lecture/PowerPoint presentation by Leonard Miele, a retired Brockton High School English teacher, will delve into the early Cape Cod years of Katharine Lee Bates and her career as an English professor at Wellesley College. The Friends of the Library have lent support to the library throughout the financial crisis by purchasing best-sellers, books on CD, museum passes and a new collection of electronic games. The Friends continue to sponsor programs for both children and adults throughout the year.

The Friends of the Norton Public Library will hold its annual fall book sale from Nov. 4 to Nov. 7 in the library's Community Room. The hours of the book sale do not always correspond with the open hours of the library.

A Friends-only evening will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4. New members of the Friends are welcome to join at the door to have the opportunity to shop early for the best selection. The sale will be open to the public Thursday, Nov. 5 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday, Nov. 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Saturday, Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., shoppers may fill a bag for $2.

Halloween party

A Halloween costume party will be held from 7 to midnight Friday, Oct. 30 at the Norton VFW, 38 Summer St. Tickets are $10, which includes hot dogs and hamburgers. There will be a D.J., raffles, and prizes for best costume. For more information, call 508-285-3845.

Epoch seeks local artists wishing to display their artwork. The community regularly showcases local artists' work in its gallery and would like to feature new talent throughout the year. For more information, contact Gloria O'Brien at 508-285-3355.

Epoch Assisted Living of Norton will hold a holiday bazaar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21. Proceeds will benefit the senior living community's resident council to support future resident activities, including charitable donations. Area crafters and artisans are invited to display and sell their products. Table reservations are due no later than Wednesday, Nov. 11. Space is limited. Church reaches out to residents

Trinitarian Congregational Church has a group to provide the community of Norton a place for persons recently unemployed or people seeking better employment a place to meet. The group is open to all, including employers seeking employees. This is an open environment to share and exchange employment information, learn and practice interview techniques, resume reviews, networking and general support for people seeking employment in these difficult times.
