State police identify I-495 crash victim

Weymouth man killed in area rollover accident
WRENTHAM - State police have identified the victim in a fatal pickup truck rollover on Interstate 495 Tuesday night as a Weymouth man.

Jeffrey D. Duhamel, 46, of Weymouth, was driving a 2000 Dodge Dakota south on the highway when the truck veered left, rolled into the median and struck a tree, with the roof coming to rest on the driver's side, state police said Wednesday.

Duhamel, who was alone in the truck, was wearing a seatbelt, state police said. Wrentham firefighters extricated him from the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash happened about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday on I-495 South, shortly before Route 1, near the Plainville line.

The left and center travel lanes were closed for about three hours after the crash, state police said. Traffic was backed up for miles, Plainville fire officials said.

State police at the Foxboro barracks are investigating the crash, with help of the state police accident reconstruction experts and crime scene services unit.

Wrentham and Plainville police, Wrentham firefighters, and state highway crews helped troopers at the scene.
