Top Headlines Steven H. Lightner, 53 FRANKLIN - Steven H. Lightner, 53, died in his Franklin home surrounded by his family on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009. Born in Boston on Sept. 22, 1956, he was the son of Frank and Lorraine (Ragucci) Lightner. He graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1974. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country during the Vietnam War. He attained the rank of sergeant. He had been a resident of Franklin for the past 15 years, moving there from Walpole. Steven retired from the West Roxbury Veteran Administation Hospital in 2005, where he had been a HVAC mechanic for over 20 years. He also had run his own HVAC business from 1998 to 2008, Nor'east Refrigeration. Most recently, he had begun working at Raytheon in North Andover. He was a qualified instructor of Vin Sung, he bred German Shepherds, and loved woodworking. Beloved husband of Karen E. (Dane) Lightner. Loving father of Angela E. Lightner, Steven Q. Lightner and Austin S. Lightner, all of Franklin. Devoted son of Lorraine (Ragucci) Lightner of Foxboro and the late Frank Lightner. Brother of Maureen Lightner-Hanson of Foxboro, Jan Lightner Flynn of Foxboro, and the late Gary Lightner, William Lightner and Laura Brigandi. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated in the Blessed Sacrament Church, East Street (Route 27) at Diamond Street, Walpole on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. Visiting hours are Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the James H. Bruce Alden Mosher, 82 FOXBORO - Bruce Alden Mosher, 82, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009 at the Epoch Senior Health Care Center in Norton surrounded by the comfort of his loving family. Bruce was the son of the late Louis S. and Elsie M. (Sibley) Mosher. Bruce was born on April 11, 1927 in Attleboro and was a lifelong resident of Foxboro. Bruce proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Bruce was a property manager for over 45 years for Moose Hill Properties in Sharon, and retired in 1992. He loved to travel, and spent much of his time at home helping his parents in their later years. Bruce was a loving son, brother and uncle. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Foxboro. Beloved brother of Herbert A. and his wife Liz Mosher of Foxboro, Raymond S. of Foxboro and his late wife Betty Mosher, and Donald E. and his wife Emily Mosher of Attleboro. Also survived by one nephew, several nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St., Foxboro. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment with U.S. Navy honors will follow at Rock Hill Cemetery, Foxboro. Iris Alliene Barstow, 76 ALFRED, Maine - Iris Alliene Barstow, 76, of Deshon Road in Alfred, Maine, died on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. She was the loving and devoted wife of 58 years to Robert K. Barstow. Born in Franklin on Feb. 16, 1933, she was the loving daughter of Ralph and Dorothy Fern (Wood) Bent. She was educated in the Franklin public schools. Formerly of Franklin, Mrs. Barstow had also lived in Wrentham and Plainville prior to moving to Alfred 21 years ago. A homemaker, Mrs. Barstow had concentrated on raising her family, and enjoyed doing things with and for them. She at one time had enjoyed league bowling at Ficco's Bowladrome in Franklin. In addition to her husband, she leaves loving children, Kathleen Barstow of Maine, Edward Barstow of Warwick, R.I., Marie Hancock-King of Attleboro, John Barstow of Alfred, Maine, and Tina Moneypenny of Alfred. She was the dear sister of Rosina and Floyd Bent of Franklin, and Laurel Andrews of New Hampshire. She was the devoted grandmother of 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday, Oct. 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the R.J. Ross Funeral Home, 135 South St., Route 1A, Wrentham Center. Her funeral will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, and burial will follow in the Plainville Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Richard Ross and the R.J. Ross Funeral Home, Wrentham Center.
