Obituaries were published for Nancy McKinnon, 50, of Attleboro; Jeffrey Mooney, 59, of North Attleboro; Dorothy Nason, 92, of Norton; Lanny S. Sirois, 66, of Sanford, Maine.

Nancy McKinnon, 50

ATTLEBORO - Nancy J. (McSweeney) McKinnon, 50, of Attleboro, formerly of Norwood, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of James K. "Jimma" McKinnon, to whom she was wed on April 22, 1989.

Born in Boston on July 14, 1959, she was a loving daughter of Madeline F. (McEvoy) McSweeney of Attleboro and the late James F. McSweeney Sr.

Nancy grew up and was educated in the Norwood public schools and was a 1977 graduate of Norwood High School. For the past 10 years Nancy was employed as a school bus driver for the towns of North Attleboro and Attleboro, and was the former manager of McSweeney's Downtown Cafe in Norton. She had resided in Attleboro for over 20 years.

Nancy enjoyed the wonderful times spent with her loving family and especially helping to raise her sons. Her hobbies included arts and crafts, cooking and horseback riding.

Nancy will always be remembered for the ways in which she could light up a room with her presence and for her contagious laughter.

In addition to her beloved husband and loving mother, she is survived by her devoted sons, Jake McKinnon and Josh McKinnon, both of Attleboro. She was the cherished sister of Roy J. McSweeney and his wife Christine of Arizona, James F. McSweeney Jr. of New Hampshire, Elaine M. Taylor and her husband Arthur of Attleboro, Patrick "PJ" McSweeney of North Attleboro, Susan T. Fullerton and her husband Edward of Attleboro and the late Rita M. Munn. She was the sister-in- law of William Munn of Holbrook, Robert Abraham and his wife Mary of Milton, Raymond Abraham and his wife Gerry of Boston, Nancy Roberge of North Attleboro, and the late Elizabeth McSweeney, Richard Abraham and Steven Roberge. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Graveside services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday, Oct. 16 at 11 a.m. at the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Plain Street, Norton.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, Oct. 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (off Route 140, Taunton Avenue), Norton.

In lieu of flowers, Nancy's family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the McKinnon Children's Educational Fund, c/o Mansfield Bank, 225 West Main St., Norton, MA 02766.

Jeffrey Mooney, 59

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Jeffrey A. Mooney, 59, of Cumberland Avenue, North Attleboro, died at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009. He was the husband of Janet M. (Wingard) Mooney, to whom he married on June 2, 1979 in Foxboro. Born in Boston on July 30, 1950, he was the son of Albert H. and Barbara Y. (Howland) Mooney of Foxboro. While being educated in Foxboro, he graduated from Foxboro High School.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 30, 1970 and served with distinguished service until his honorable discharge on July 20, 1973. He was stationed in Korea as a recovery specialist.

Mr. Mooney worked for many years as a warehouse supervisor for specialty food distributors. Previously, he worked alongside his son for a few years as an armorer at the Rhode Island Fencing Academy and Club in Warren, R.I.

He resided in Mansfield for many years prior to moving to North Attleboro, where he lived for 27 years.

Mr. Mooney had many interests, such as making knives and teaching himself how to paint landscapes. Spending time outdoors while working in his yard, fishing and being around a baseball field were a few of his favorite pastimes. As a baseball coach for the North Attleboro Little League for 10 years, he was able to express his love for the sport. As a sports fan, he was also fond of football.

He enjoyed involvement with various organizations, such as being a member of the Foxboro Fish and Game Association. He had also been a former board member of the Baseball All-Star Hockomock League Board of Directors of North Attleboro for several years.

As a proud veteran, Mr. Mooney was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Foxboro Post 2626.

He was a member of the Teamsters and Trucking Union in Brockton, Local 653.

In addition to his wife and parents, he leaves two children, Jeffrey A. Mooney and Jarrett W. Mooney, both of North Attleboro; a sister, Yvonne B. Kinsman of Wareham; three nieces, four nephews and many dear friends.

He was the uncle of the late Rob Kinsman, who passed away in September 2000.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with veteran's honors on Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Ave. (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at top of exit, proceed 3/4 mile, on the left), Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.

A children's room will be available during visitation.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 8:45 a.m. from the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 14 Park St., North Attleboro.

Burial with full military honors, in honor of Mr. Mooney's dedication to his country, will follow.

Dorothy Nason, 92

NORTON - Dorothy (Black) Nason, 92, of Norton passed away on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009 surrounded by her loving family at home. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles O. Nason, to whom she was wed for 41 years at the time of his death on July 24, 1979.

Born in Aberdeen, Scotland on Dec. 7, 1916, she was a daughter of the late William and Helen (Currie) Black. Dot spent her early childhood living in Scotland, and at age 7 her family moved to America and settled in Taunton.

She grew up in Taunton, was educated in the Taunton public schools and was a 1936 graduate of Taunton High School.

In addition to serving her family as a dedicated homemaker, Mrs. Nason had also worked as a printer at the Foxboro Company in Foxboro before retiring, and had formerly been employed at the Kilburn Glass Co. in Norton.

A Norton resident for the past 73 years, Dot was a longtime member of the Trinitarian Congregational Church, where she was a former member of the What-So-Ever Club and enjoyed and looked forward to times spent with her friends in the Lunch Bunch.

Dot was a member of the Norton Grange, enjoyed gardening, and when younger was an active bowler and was a member of area bowling leagues.

She liked feeding the birds around her house and especially spending time with her family and baking for her grandchildren.

She is survived by her devoted children Elwin W. Nason and his wife Janet, Charles R. "Dick" Nason and his wife Terry, Nancy J. May and her husband Doug, and Karen A. Robbins and her husband Stu, all of Norton. She was the cherished grandmother of Christopher Robbins of Norton, Scott May of Attleboro, Kim Osborne of Brockton, Allison White of Clovis, N.M., and Amy Ruskey, Keith Nason, Stacey May, Todd May and Jon Nason, all of Norton. She was the adoring great-grandmother of Al Paluso of Norton, Declan White of Clovis, N.M., Julian Osborne of Brockton, Carolyn Robbins of Norton, Jonah Osborne of Brockton and Caitlyn Robbins of Norton. She was the dear sister of Ruth Stafford of Manchester, N.H., Helen Parenteau of Norton, Rose Gould of Dunnellon, Fla., Beverly Williams of Lexington, Ky., George Black of Quincy, Ill., James Black of Iowa, Robert Black of Chanute, Kan. and the late William Black, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 10 a.m. in the Trinitarian Congregational Church, East Main and Pine streets, Norton. Burial will follow in the Norton Center Cemetery, Norton. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, Oct. 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (off Route 140, Taunton Avenue), Norton.

Lanny S. Sirois, 66

SANFORD, Maine - Lanny S. Sirois, 66, a longtime resident of Sanford, Maine, died peacefully with his loving family by his side, on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009 at Goodall Hospital in Sanford.

He was born on April 20, 1943 in North Attleboro, Mass., a son of Delor J. and Lena G. (Beaulieu) Sirois, and spent his childhood with his siblings growing up in North Attleboro.

He graduated from North Attleboro High School and attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology for three years, majoring in engineering.

Lanny worked for many years as an electro-mechanical designer and was well respected in his field.

Lanny enjoyed working with wood and made several pieces of furniture for their home. He made tables and bedroom sets, wooden toys, and made a special rocking horse which he donated to the Salvation Army. A true craftsman, with his engineering background, Lanny spent many happy hours in his workshop.

He and his family spent countless hours outdoors. They would go hiking and camping throughout New England. His family shared memories of exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains of Tennessee and discovering the Florida Everglades.

Lanny was an avid reader of history and science fiction.

First and foremost was his devotion to his family, and by his example, his sons shared what they learned of the importance of possessing a good work ethic, providing for your family and making time to enjoy what nature has to offer. His gift of woodworking and the many pieces of furniture he made will be appreciated and cherished as they are passed down from one generation to the next.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Emily M. (Jarosz) Sirois; two sons, Lanny S. Sirois Jr. and Adam V. Sirois; one brother, Delor J. Sirois; one sister, Constance F. Sirois; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Dawson L. Sirois.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. in Shapleigh, Maine, at the Ross Corner Free Will Baptist Church, with Rev. Susan Murphy officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the parish hall. Committal prayers and burial will be private.
