An obituary was published Saturday for Caroline Violet Horne.

Caroline Violet Horne, 79, of Firelight Drive, Danbury, Conn., died on October 22, 2009, in the Yale New Haven Medical Center in New Haven. She was the beloved wife of 56 years of Charles L. "Chuck" Horne.

Born in Cambridge, on January 26, 1930, she was the dear daughter of the late Antonio and Mary (Pagliuca) Iovine. Raised in Somerville, she was a graduate of the Somerville High School.

She retired as a computer operator having been employed by Children's Literature of West Reading, Conn. She had previously been a data processor for the Internal Revenue Service in Andover.

Formerly of Billerica, she had at one time been active with the Pattenville Women's Club in Billerica. She and her husband had been avid Candle Pin bowlers, and she proudly was considered "better than her husband" at the art of finessing the ball within the lanes. The couple also enjoyed traveling and some of their most treasured memories were the trip to Hawaii for their 55th anniversary, vacationing on Bermuda, their 14 years spent Snow birding in Florida, and enjoying Mashpee and Falmouth on Cape Cod.

Caroline's favorite times were spent with her children and grandchildren. They were the source of great joy and brought her much happiness.

In addition to her husband she leaves loving children, Cheryl and her husband Thomas Mahoney of Wrentham, Charles M. "Chuck" and his wife Ellen Horne of Wrentham, and Cynthia and her husband James Callery of Sandy Hook, Conn., dear sister Assunta "Sue" Viveiros of Medford, and devoted grandchildren, Allison "Allie" Horne, Christopher Horne, Caroline Horne, Jessica Mahoney, Jennifer Callery, Brendan Callery and Abigail Callery, and 10 nieces and nephews, all of whom she greatly loved. She was sister of the late Michael and Joseph Iovine.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the RJ Ross Funeral Home, 135 South St., Route 1A, Wrentham Center, on Sunday from 4-8 p.m.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday October 26, 2009 at 9 a.m., in St. Mary's Church, 140 South Street, Route 1A, Wrentham Center. Burial will follow in the Wrentham Center Cemetery.

Mrs. Horne and her family had been very appreciative and grateful for the considerate care she was given by the nurses and staff at Yale New Haven Medical Center.

Such is their appreciation that the family wishes that those who would like may make a donation in her memory to the Smilow Cancer Center, at Yale New Haven Medical Center, PO Box 2038, New Haven, Conn., 06521-2038.

Arrangements are in the care of Richard Ross and the RJ Ross Funeral Home, Wrentham Center.
