Top Headlines ATTLEBORO - The seventh Annual AHS Blue Pride Gridiron Club Scholarship Dinner Dance will be held 7 p.m.-midnight Nov. 7 at the Attleboro Elks Lodge. Dinner is at 7:30. Congregation to hold Thanksgiving service ATTLEBORO - People who have experienced loss are invited to join Community VNA Hospice Care in "A Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving" at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8 at Congregation Agudas Achim, 901 North Main St., Attleboro. The interfaith, non-denominational celebration will honor your loved one's life and memory. This service is free and open to the public. Substance abuse workshop synagogue topic ATTLEBORO - Congregation Agudas Achim will host a workshop at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 15 at the synagogue located at 901 North Main St. "Substance Abuse in the Jewish Community" will be presented by Dr. Alan Wartenberg, the co-medical director for the Providence Veterans Administration Medical Center opioid treatment programs. Girl Scouts offer holiday bargains ATTLEBORO - The Attleboro Girl Scouts will hold a holiday craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21 at the Anderson Girl Scout House, 15 Fourth St., in Attleboro. Items for sale will include holiday items, raffles on numerous theme baskets, baked goods and homemade craft items. There also will be a grandma's attic and vendors such as Tupperware and jewelry. Invitations will go out potentially at mid-summer, according to Lauren Bliss, reunion coordinator. Bliss says the reunion will be held at Olive's Restaurant and Martini Bar, 108 North Main St., Providence from 6 to 9 p.m. Classmates are encouraged to stay past 9 p.m., when the bar opens to the public and a cover band plays. Finger foods, pizzas, chicken tenders, fried calamari, coconut shrimp, and a crudite table will be available along with a cash bar. Depression support group meets weekly ATTLEBORO - DBSA (Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance) meets every Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hillside Adult Day Health Center at 50 Walton St., Attleboro. The group is a peer led support group for people suffering with depression or who are bipolar, and is a chapter of a national organization. For more information, go to www.dbsa-attleboro.org. Wanted: Volunteers for New Hope ATTLEBORO - New Hope, the local domestic violence and sexual assault agency, is looking for dedicated and compassionate volunteers to join its Rape Crisis Advocate Team. As part of the on call response team, rape crisis advocates meet survivors at hospitals and police stations and provide crisis intervention, support and referrals.
