ATTLEBORO - Police responding to a call about an intoxicated man trying to pick a fight with a patron at a convenience store ended up arresting a suspect with a history of drunken driving.
Stephen Parker, 51, of 34 Franklin St. in Attleboro, pleaded innocent in Attleboro District Court Wednesday to a third-offense drunken-driving charge, driving with a suspended license and resisting arrest.
He was freed on $1,000 cash bail and is due back in court Nov. 27.
Parker was arrested around 11:55 p.m. Tuesday as he was driving his pickup truck out of the parking lot of the 7-Eleven convenience store on North Main Street.
Assistant District Attorney Jessica Lennon alleged Parker showed signs of intoxication, but declined to take a breath-alcohol test.
Parker also allegedly swore at police and struggled with officers when they tried to arrest him, Lennon said.
