Attleboro
Deadline nears for troop gifts
Top Headlines The goal is to send 60 packages made up of personal care items, books, videos and non-perishable food items. There are a few ways to contribute, said Linda Alger, city council administrator who is one of the leaders of the effort. Donors may purchase items, for example, 60 of the same item, or adopt a soldier and purchase items and place in a box. A computer paper box is ideal and the contents should weigh no more than 20 pounds. The box should not be sealed because the city plans to add special city-related items. Items or boxes should be delivered to the Attleboro Council office between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. through Friday. A large blue bin will be outside of the door to the office to receive the items. If anyone knows of an Attleboro serviceman or woman who's in Afghanistan or Iraq, e-mail the APO address and the service member will be added to the list. The e-mail address is council@cityofattleboro.us. For more information call Alger at 508-223-2222 extension 3181.
