Mansfield selectmen to interview manager finalists
Top Headlines Using the bulk of the meeting, the board plans to interview Dedham Town Administrator William Keegan Jr., former Jackson, Mich., City Manager William Ross and former Brockton Mayor John Yunits, who currently serves as president of the Brockton Rox minor league baseball team. Selectmen say they hope to hold second interviews at their Nov. 10 meeting, with a possible vote coming the same night. Before taking the helm in Dedham, Keegan was the town administrator in Seekonk for five years. He is a graduate of Westfield State College and received a master's degree from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Ross, who retired as Jackson's city manager earlier this year, had held the post since September 2004. Before joining the Rox staff, Yunits was Brockton's longest-serving mayor, holding the office from 1996 to 2006. He graduated from Boston College and has earned a degree from the New England School of Law. The names of the three finalists were presented to the full board last week by the town manager search committee, which interviewed five candidates before making its picks. Due to the expected length of the interviews, selectmen will begin their meeting at 6:15 p.m., rather than the normal 7 p.m. start time. The new town manager will replace John D'Agostino, who left the post in June after reaching a buyout agreement with selectmen. Building Inspector Nick Riccio has been filling in on an interim basis.
