D'Agostino passed over for new job

SUN CHRONICLE STAFF

MANSFIELD - Former Town Manager John D'Agostino was passed over this week for the same position in Billerica.

Billerica selectmen voted unanimously to offer the position to Maynard Town Manager John Curran, while D'Agostino had held early support from at least two board members.

D'Agostino's supporters praised his financial background, calling him the most "fiscally responsible" candidate.

The board ultimately decided to go with Curran, citing his experience in Maynard and as a twice-elected mayor of Woburn. The town's search committee had named D'Agostino and Curran finalists, along with Douglas Meagher, Concord's deputy town manager.

" QBEd I know it must be upsetting to you that the interim town manger has been around town long enough to know where the dead weight is,he will pass this info on to the new manager and you and your bully buddies will be eliminated bye bye Ed "

" QBEd...I believe your quote was "and yes, I'm still watching". What was the message you were trying to convey? Seems very creepy to me and bullish. The fact of the matter is your buddy, since the start of the civil rights trial, has been passed over by 15 communities. He has made the final three several times, but hasn't been selected. I know the truth hurts, but it is what it is. The cash cow has jumped the fence. Goodnight Ed. "

" They all had a fair shot and Billerica chose the best candidate for the town. If at first you don't succeed, try again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again. "
