MANSFIELD - Former Town Manager John D'Agostino was passed over this week for the same position in Billerica.
Billerica selectmen voted unanimously to offer the position to Maynard Town Manager John Curran, while D'Agostino had held early support from at least two board members.
D'Agostino's supporters praised his financial background, calling him the most "fiscally responsible" candidate.
The board ultimately decided to go with Curran, citing his experience in Maynard and as a twice-elected mayor of Woburn.
The town's search committee had named D'Agostino and Curran finalists, along with Douglas Meagher, Concord's deputy town manager.

I would hate to see the other canidates if he was the most responsible. "
