She was the wife of the late Frank Marques. She was born in Westport, a daughter of the late Antone Costa. She was a jewelry assembler for various jewelry companies in the Attleboro area for many years. She has lived in Attleboro for over 70 years, coming from Westport. She was a Jehovah's Witness. She is survived by a son Robert and his wife Audrey of North Kingstown, RI. Funeral services are private. (Robillard) Haines, 89, died on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at Caritas Norwood Hospital surrounded by the comfort of her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Norman and Marguerite (Muse) Robillard. Jeanne was born on May 26, 1920 in Boston. She was a graduate of Sharon High School, Class of 1938. She was a former lunch room cashier at Sharon High School. Jeanne was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church of Sharon. She was an avid golfer and was a member of the Sharon Country Club. She enjoyed knitting and was an avid New England sports fan. She was a loving and devoted mother, sister and grandmother. Wife of the late Roy V. Haines. Beloved mother of Sharon J. Darling of Plainville and Jeanne M. and her husband Wayne Lestan of Walpole. Stepmother of Frank M. Haines of WI. Sister of Norman Robillard and his wife Martha of Plainville and the late Rose Marie Murray and Bette Adele Jones. Adoring grandmother of Kamilla D. Kissell of Medway and dear friend of Beverley Whipple. Anita Louise Sanford, 66 FOXBORO - Anita Louise Sanford, 66, died peacefully on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at her home in Foxboro surrounded by the comfort of her loving family. She was the daughter of the late James and Ruth (Belcher) Sanford. Anita was born in Attleboro on Sept. 1, 1943 and was raised in Foxboro, where she was a Foxboro High School graduate, Class of 1961. After high school, Anita graduated as a registered nurse from the Brockton School of Nursing. She worked for several different Boston hospitals before moving to North Carolina in 1969. Along with Sister Mary Jogues, Anita started one of the first home nursing services in the country called Mountain Home Nursing Service in Hayesville, North Carolina. Anita loved caring for people with her nursing skills that she developed over the years. She especially loved caring for the impoverished people of the Appalachian Mountain area of North Carolina. After returning to Foxboro in 1979, she continued her work as an RN in home nursing. Anita was a longtime member of the Faith Fellowship United Methodist Church in Mansfield. She enjoyed attending Des Colores Christian Retreat in Maine. She was an avid New England sports fan and loved fishing the waters of the Cape Cod Canal. Anita was a devoted sister, aunt and friend. Beloved sister of James W. Sanford of Foxboro, Joyce A. Hearn-Purvis of Wrentham and the late Dorothy Lou Lipponen, she is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. "Moe" Hayes Jr., 66, of Mansfield passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009. He was the beloved husband of Janet M. (Kneeland) Hayes, to whom he was married on Feb. 23, 1963. Born in Boston, MA on Jan. 16, 1943, he was a dear son of Ann (Neely) Hayes of Walpole and the late Rens F. Hayes Sr. Moe grew up in the West Roxbury section of Boston until moving to Walpole, where he was a 1961 graduate of Walpole High School. Mr. Hayes was a self-employed carpenter and was the proud owner of the R.F. Hayes Construction Co. in Mansfield, a business he had operated for the past 44 years. A resident of Mansfield for the past 44 years, he was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. Mr. Hayes was a hard-working man and family was the focal point of his life. In addition to his beloved wife and mother, he is survived by his devoted sons Rens F. Hayes III and his wife Joan of Norton, Michael J. Hayes Sr. and his wife Karen of Foxboro, Eric S. Hayes and his former wife Susan of Mansfield, Brandon G. Hayes Sr. and his wife Kristin of Attleboro and Sean M. Tipton of Norton. He was the brother of Ronald Hayes and his wife Tracy of Foxboro, Roger Hayes and his wife Susan of Norton and the late Richard Hayes, Robert Hayes and Barbara Tipton. He was the adoring grandfather of Rens Hayes IV, Lauren Hayes, Brianna Hayes, Bryan Carew, Michael Hayes Jr., Danielle Hayes, Brandon Hayes Jr., Nicholas Hayes and Julia Hayes. He is also survived by his dear friend, Jaynemarie Connolly of Mansfield, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 9 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106), Mansfield. (von Dembowski) Battersby of Millard Road and formerly of Pawtucket died Sunday, 10 days shy of her 100th birthday, at the Madonna Manor, North Attleboro. She was the wife of the late Clarence Battersby. Born in Pawtucket, she was a resident of the city for over 86 years, living most of that time on Appleton Avenue. She was the daughter of the late Maryan L.K. and Stacia (Pietz) von Dembowski. She was a bookkeeper for the former Pawtucket Redi Mix Co. for many years and later worked in the Treasurer's Office for the City of Pawtucket for 15 years. Alice was a long-standing member of the Memorial Baptist Church of Seekonk. She is survived by one sister, Barbara G. Hawe of Sandy, Utah; a sister-in-law, Audrey Dillon and her husband Jack of Texas; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Norbert J. and Joseph von Dembowski, Cora W. Miller, Jenny Gingras, Irene Bowden and Dorothy Fleming. Donald Ralph Clegg Sr., 72 Retired Quality Assurance Engineer PAWTUCKET - Donald Ralph Clegg Sr., 72, of Calder Street, Pawtucket, Rhode Island died on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at the St. Antoine Residence in North Smithfield, Rhode Island, where he had been a resident since February. He was the husband of Betty Ann (Burek) Clegg, to whom he was married on April 28, 1957. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on Nov. 19, 1936, he was a son of the late Ralph and Florence (Matros) Clegg. He was raised and educated in his native community of Attleboro. He resided in the City of Attleboro for 55 years prior to moving to Florida, where he resided for ten years in Ft. Myers and Marco Island. Four years ago, he returned to New England and settled in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Mr. Clegg was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having achieved the rank of staff sergeant. He enlisted on Jan. 18, 1955 and served honorably until his discharge on April 17, 1959 and then fulfilled his Reserve obligation until Jan. 17, 1963. He was employed as a quality assurance engineer for Northrop for 35 years prior to his retirement in 1994. Mr. Clegg attended St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Attleboro. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1014 in Attleboro, and was a member of the Northrop baseball league. In earlier years, he served as a football and baseball coach for the Attleboro Parent League. While residing in Florida, Mr. Clegg was a member of the Marco Island Fishing Club. In addition to his wife of 52 years, he leaves three children, Donald R. Clegg Jr. and his wife, Jacquelyn (Fuvich) Clegg, of Cumberland, Rhode Island; Sharon L. Hanewich and her husband, Mark Hanewich, of Bradenton, Florida and Carolyn J. Woodruff and her husband, Lloyd Woodruff, of Attleboro; eight grandchildren: Katelynn Hanewich, Ashley Hanewich, Matthew Hanewich, Corey Hanewich and Brett Hanewich, all of Bradenton, Florida; Lindsey Clegg and Sidney Clegg, both of Cumberland, Rhode Island and Nicholas Woodruff of Attleboro; a sister, Linda Craft of Jacksonville, Florida and several extended family members and friends. He was the brother of the late Robert Clegg. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Kelly Ann Layton, 37 PAWTUCKET - Kelly Ann Layton, 37, died Oct. 15, 2009. Born in Boston on Oct. 20, 1971 and raised in Norton, MA, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Margaret (Kuronen) Layton. She leaves three children, Ashley Pelletier and Mandy and Nicholas Davis, all of Smithfield, RI, and two brothers, John Layton of Pawtucket, RI and Richard Layton of Deltona, FL.
