Myrtle Irene (Malinowski) Weston LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. - Myrtle Irene (Malinowski) Weston, of Laguna Niguel, Calif. formerly of Plainville, Mass., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009. Born in North Attleboro, Mass., March 6, 1922, the daughter of the late Edmund A. Malinowski and Irene M. (Simpson) Malinowski, she lived in North Attleboro and Plainville most of her life before moving to Laguna Niguel. She graduated from North Attleboro High School, Class of 1939. She was a member of Eastern Star, Angle Stone. In her younger days, she was an active member of the Second Congregational Church in Attleboro Falls, Mass. Myrt lived well and triumphed over adversity. She is remembered as a lovely woman with a kind and generous heart, happiest when her home was filled with family and friends. She loved to entertain and was recognized as a fabulous hostess. Myrt opened her home and her heart to anyone in need. She often offered the pleasure of a warm Tollhouse cookie with milk and the simple comfort of listening. Myrt worked with Ray Wells at Wells Manufacturing, with Gordon Johnson at V.H. Blackinton and Company, and for Robert Yeager, president of Balfour. She also worked at Pondville and Caritas Hospital as an executive secretary and administrative assistant to Dr. Leo Stolbach, chief of medicine and associate professor of medicine. Myrt co-founded Mount Hope Arabian Farm of North Attleboro, and raised several Arabians that received New England and top national honors in various divisions. Two most notable Arabians were Mount Hope Dahab (several times National Champion Arabian Stallion in various divisions) and Mount Hope Rafaden (many times New England Champion). She also raised other Arabians that went on to receive top honors both locally and nationally. The Mount Hope Farm was recognized as one of the most successful Arabian breeding farms in the country. Myrt was actively involved with her daughter's, Linda S. Weston Kinney and Laurie Anne Weston, horse competitions. Her guidance was instrumental in helping them compete and achieve top New England and national honors. In addition to daughters Laurie and Linda, Myrtle leaves two sons, George D. Weston II of Florida, and John L. E. Weston of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; grandchildren: James T. Kinney of Warwick, R.I., Stiles M. Weston of Florida, Brett S. Weston of Warwick, R.I., Lorin B. Kinney Jr. of Providence, and Alicia Matarese of Wrentham, Mass.; and sisters: Norma Doucette of Attleboro, Mass. and Betty Fletcher of Fallbrook, Calif., and Shirley Bayley of North Attleboro, Mass. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A small oceanside service will take place in Laguna Niguel, Calif., followed by a memorial service on June 5, 2010 in Massachusetts. Sadly missed by all who have known her, Myrt will be interred at Mount Hope Cemetery.
