Plainville arrests suspect in rash of car, house breaks

PLAINVILLE - Police have arrested a resident they suspect had his hand in at least some of the numerous breaks into homes and vehicles in the east side of town over the past several months.

James DeCelle, 25, of 7 Millbrook Drive, Plainville, was arrested after police stopped his car Friday night. He was charged with having two outstanding felony warrants and multiple counts of receiving stolen property and breaking and entering, police said.

So far, DeCelle has been charged with two housebreaks, and two attempted housebreaks where occupants were home, Detective James Floyd said.

Police are continuing to investigate additional break-ins that the suspect may be linked to.

"It could be up to a dozen more," Floyd said. "He is one of our suspects in those particular ones because the scenario is basically the same." Some police legwork led to the arrest.

"He ended up cashing in a bunch of jewelry" at a store, Floyd said of the suspect.

Cash, electronics and other items were also reported stolen from the homes and vehicles, police said.

"The victims and people in this neighborhood were understandably very upset about this," Sgt. Corrina Carter said.

The suspect is being held on $5,000 cash bail at the police station pending arraignment Monday morning in Wrentham District Court.
