PLAINVILLE - Saturday's high winds may have caused an unusual accident on East Bacon Street, where a tree branch fell through a car's windshield, luckily leaving no one injured.
Shortly after noon, a vehicle driven by Roger Babbit, of Plainville, was struck by a falling tree branch, which crashed through the passenger side of the car's windshield, according to Plainville police.
Luckily, police said, Babbit was not driving with a passenger, and the driver was uninjured, although the car suffered extensive damage.
The accident came on a day when the National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for eastern Massachusetts.
Such advisories are issued when sustained winds are forecast to be 31 to 39 mph or gusts will range between 46 and 57 mph.
The Attleboro area was expected to receive winds averaging between 20 and 30 mph, with gusts over 40 mph possible.
