Drop your leaves off at DPW yard You don't have much time to get your raking done. The town brush dump at the Department of Public Works off Taunton Street will be open this Saturday and Saturday and Saturday, Nov. 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The site won't reopen until April 3. DARE to crop at scrapbooking event An afternoon of scrapbooking will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Original Congregational Church. Cost for the afternoon will be $30 and covers six hours to work on album projects, door prizes, snacks, and beverages. All proceeds from the day and products purchased will be given to the King Philip Drug Abuse Resistance Education program. There are many activities going on at Fiske Public Library off Randall Road, including: Crime is the subject Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. as Diane Rapaport will delight the audience with a multimedia presentation on "True Crimes and Controversies in the Courts of Colonial New England." Her book "The Naked Quaker," brings to life dozens of little-known amusing and unbelievable stories from Colonial courts. Signup required. Copies of the book are available at the front desk. A course for baby-sitting is scheduled for two Saturdays, Nov. 7 and 14, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Fiske Public Library off Randall Road. The participants, ages 11 to 15, learn basic childcare, first aid, safety issues, and injury prevention. Includes child and infant CPR. Participants completing the two-day, 10-hour course receive a certificate from the Red Cross. Cost is $70. Pre-registration is required. To register, call 1-617-274-5261. Additional classes will be offered Saturday, Dec. 5 and 12. Adult Mystery Club is hosting author Gary Braver on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. He is the author of "Elixir," "Flashback" and "Gray Matter," all best-selling thrillers. "Go for the Stars," an interactive educational space program for all ages, is being held Thursday, Nov. 19 at 3:30 p.m. Meet a robot, learn about living in space, and dress in an astronaut flight suit, with the aid of computers, numerous props and visual aids. Gary Pozzato, an aerospace educator, has traveled throughout New England since 1992 sharing his knowledge about the space program with numerous schools, libraries and civic groups. Tickets are available at the circulation desk. Program is free but canned-good donations will be gratefully accepted for the Wrentham Food Pantry. The program is supported with a Sweatt Fund grant. Donating blood Employees at Wrentham Developmental Center donated blood this past summer at a blood drive held at the center as part of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services hosting blood drives across the state for its 24,000 employees. ConCom training Conservation commission members William Bauser, Dianne Demarais, Leo Immonen, Barry Kassler and Christopher Yarworth have completed the Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions's Fundamentals for Conservation Commissioners training course. The goal of the eight-unit course is to provide conservation commissioners and others with the basic knowledge and practical tools essential to carrying out many responsibilities, from administering the Wetlands Protection Act to open space planning and protection. Scholarship earned The Wrentham Citizens Alliance awarded its 2009 James F. Dolan III Memorial Scholarship to King Philip Regional High School senior Rachel Turner of Wrentham. Turner's essay on the topic, "Do My Ideas Matter?," was selected as the best essay from among the many entries submitted by King Philip seniors.
