Cavedons celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

North Attleboro - Rod and Barbara (Danko) Cavedon of North Attleboro celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 8. The couple married on that date in 1959.

In honor of the occasion, the couple traveled to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic with their children, Kathy Cavedon and her husband, John Kelleher, of North Attleboro, and Michael Cavedon and his wife, Peri, of Hopkinton, and their grandchildren: Matt and Mike Kelleher, and Samantha, Kyle and Dana Cavedon. The celebration included parasailing, snorkeling, jet skiing and swimming with dolphins.

Rod and Barbara were also the guests of honor at a dinner at the River Falls Restaurant in Woonsocket, R.I., hosted by their children, grandchildren and Babcia. The couple received a trip to Hawaii as an anniversary gift.

Rod taught math and computer science for 41 years at Woonsocket High School, Dean Junior College - now known as Dean College - and spent the last 30 of those years at North Attleboro High School, retiring in 2003.

Barbara taught for 30 years, the last 28 years teaching second grade at Bernon Heights Elementary School until her retirement in 1998.
The couple plans on spending the next 50 years continuing their tour of the world.
